    Sathu Maavu Kozhukattai is a healthy pidi kozhukattai made with health mix flour and rice flour. I had written this in the list of sathu maavu flour recipes to try and as Ganesh Chaturthi is nearing thought to try it and post.To my surprise the kozhukattais came out so soft and tasty.

    Sathu Maavu Kozhukattai

    Sathu Maavu Kozhukattai is a healthy, mild sweet kozhukattai made by steaming hand molded sathu maavu which is blended with palm jaggery. How to make Sathu Maavu Kozhukattai  is presented in this post with step by step pictures.

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup health mix powder
    • 1/2 cup rice flour
    • 1/4 cup coconut
    • 1 tsp ghee
    • a pinch salt

    To prepare syrup:

    • 1/2 cup palm jaggery
    • 1/3 cup water

    Instructions

    • To a pan add health mix powder and rice flour to it. Dry roast until it is hot to touch at least 2-3 mins in low flame.
    • Transfer to mixing bowl and set aside. Add palm jaggery and water to the pan.
    • Let it dissolve completely, then simmer the syrup for 5 mins then switch off.
    • Strain and add syrup to the bowl. Add coconut to it.
    • Add ghee and a pinch of salt to it.Mix well.It may look runny but keep mixing to form a dough.
    • Grease your hand with ghee. Once warm, handle with hands. Mix well to bring together.
    • Pinch a lemon sized dough shape into a cylinder. Press with fingers to form impression as shown.
    • Prepare the steamer and keep it ready.
    • Place the prepared kozhukattais in the steamer plate and steam cook for 15 mins in low medium flame.
    • I steamed in batches. I got 12 kozhukattais in total.
    • Serve Sathu Maavu Kozhukattai hot or warm.

    Notes

    • My homemade sathu maavu powder already had cardamom in it so I didnt add, if you prefer you can add it.
    • You can even add a pinch of dry ginger powder if you like the flavor.
    • Do nit change the color of flour while roasting, roast slowly in low flame.
