    About Bread Masala

Bread Masala is made by tossing bread cubes in a basic onion tomato masala. This is similar to South Indian Bread Upma but with a masala twist. This Masala Bread is different in flavor as we add all spice powders in a onion tomato masala and finally bread cubes are tossed to coat.

You can make endless recipes using left over bread and I can definitely say this is one of my family favorites. Mittu and Gugu are fond of this bread masala and asks me to make it whenever I bake bread or buy it.

I like the simple bread upma more especially which amma makes. I have shared the same recipe which she makes but still eating hot from her is a different feel – guess many daughters can relate to it.

The ingredients are completely your choice add vegetables, eggs and replace the spice powders with your favorite. You can even add Pav Bhaji Masala or Curry Masala powder to make this bread masala recipe.

    Expert Tips

    • You can use wheat bread or white bread. You can even use pav buns.
    • You can toast the bread pieces first and then add it. This way it will not turn soggy after some time too.
    • I used just onion, tomatoes and capsicum but you can add other veggies like carrot, peas etc.
    • You can use country eggs or regular white eggs.
    • You can even add the bread slices along with eggs and mix it if you like it a bit goey. But I prefer it this way a bit moist but well cooked eggs.
    • Use a thick bottomed pan/kadai so that while scrambling eggs, it does not stick.
    • I always crack open the eggs to a separate bowl these days to check if its spoiled or not.

    Serving & Storage

Serve it as a snack or for breakfast. You can serve it with plain curd or onion raita but it tastes great on its own too.
