We always end up using leftover idlis in Idli Upma or Idli Podi Toast. Sometimes I make idlis in bulk to use the leftover for next days breakfast as its quick to put it together. I love any upma variety Bread Upma or even Wheat Rava Upma.

    About Idli Upma

Idli Upma is made by first crumbling idlis well then tempering with basic spices along with onion, hing, turmeric powder and tossing crumbled idlis into it, finally garnished with coriander leaves.

Idli Upma is an easy way to use leftover idlis and is quick to make in just 15 minutes. You can either use fresh idlis or use leftover idlis. If using freshly made idlis refrigerate them for a while then use it.

Idli Upma can be made in many ways and this simple recipe is our family staple. I always wonder how leftover dishes are beautifully transformed into a delicious breakfast or snack.

It is really interesting to see how a simple boring idli turns into this colorful upma…ahh guess I’ve started admiring food more only after I started photographing it. You can even add carrots or other vegetables to make it wholesome.
