Bread Upma Recipe

Bread Upma – A very humble dish that you can make it in a jiffy, to make it wholesome I added some vegetables. It was a very appealing and colorful bowl of bread upma for breakfast. I was running like an headless chicken from morning that I couldn’t make the post any earlier but glad that I could make it atleast by today. I am partial when it comes to bread, anything with bread is a winner to me and that justifies a separate page for bread recipes…:)

Vegetable Bread Upma Recipe – Ingredients

Preparation Time : 15 mins | Cooking Time : 20 mins | Serves : 2

My Notes:

  • Adding vegetables is of your choice. You can add any of your favourite vegetable. You can even make it plain without adding veggies just plain when you are pressed for time.
  • Make sure not to drain cooked water to retain the nutrients of the veggies.
  • You can add a pinch of sambar powder too for extra flavour.
  • You can replace green chillies with 1/2 tsp red chilli powder.
  • I used fresh veggies, you can use frozen too….In that case you can just cook it along with onion itself no need to precook it.
  • Adding tomato sauce gives a nice tanginess to the upma. You can replace it with lemon juice too.

I love bread upma too–so much so that I'm sometimes tempted to make bread upma with fresh bread, rather than eat it as is 🙂 Love the addition of vegetables!

I tried to make this. But, my bread became very soggy within 30 mins of preparation. I did made sure all the water from the vegetables and sauce were fully evaporated before i add the bread. I used the Whole wheat bread. Can you tell what i might have done wrong ?
