    This Sweet Millet Roti is called by different names : Ragi Sweet Roti – Fingermillet Sweet Roti – Kezhvaragu Sweet Adai.

    Ragi sweet roti is my favourite since my childhood days.I liked the sweet version more than the salt version.But now I like both.My mother always makes this sweet roti for me as I love it.I kept postponing to post this sweet version, finally found time to click it today and here is the post.

    Sweet Millet Roti

    Sweet Millet Roti or Ragi Sweet Roti is a mild, tasty roti made by blending finger millet flour, with jaggery & coconut and cooked like roti. Sweet Ragi Roti is a very healthy breakfast that you can serve for your family & especially kids.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup finger millet flour / ragi flour
    • 1/4 cup coconut grated
    • a tiny pinch of cardamom powder
    • oil to toast

    For the jaggery syrup:

    • 1/3 cup jaggery
    • 1/3 cup water

    Instructions

    • First take ragi flour in a mixing bowl. Add jaggery syrup to it.
    • Add coconut and cardamom powder to it.
    • Mix well with a spoon, if its dry sprinkle little water and Keep mixing with a ladle till it forms a smooth dough, it will be slightly sticky. Mix well and form a dough.
    • Make big lemon sized balls.
    • Grease the parchment paper with few drops of oil place the ball and flatten it. Start patting it with your fingers till its thin .
    • You can make 2 adais at a time so that you can alternate them while one is getting cooked in the tawa.
    • Heat dosa tawa and drizzle oil, carefully transfer the roti to the tawa.
    • Toast the rotis on both the sides, drizzle oil. Flip over only when one side is cooked and cook other side. Sweet Millet Roti ready!

    Notes

    • You can make big rotis too.
    • The dough should be moist and sticky, if its dry then the rotis will have splits and will break while toasting. The consistency of the dough is more like the kozhukattai dough but sticky.
    • Grease your fingers with little oil so that it doesn’t stick while flattening the adais.

    1. Measure jaggery and add it in a pan, add water and dissolve it well.
