Eggless French Toast (Savoury version)

Coming to the recipe today....I tried eggless french toast from Mahimas blog sometime back and it turned out to be a very good snack for a sunday evening! Check out my eggless french toast sweet version here.
Eggless French Toast

Eggless French Toast (Savoury version) Recipe - Ingredients
  • Bread - 4 slices
  • White Rava(Sooji) - 1/2 cup
  • Yogurt - 1/2 cup
  • Big Onions chopped - 1/2
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Coriander leaves chopped - 2 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - a generous pinch
  • Ghee to toast
  • Salt - to taste

Eggless French Toast
Method:
1.Mix all the above ingredients except bread and make a semi thick batter.Take a spoon full of the batter and spread on each slice of bread to coat well. You can even coat batter on both the sides and place it on the tawa.

2.Heat a tawa - Add 1/2 tsp ghee, place the breads carefully then coat the other side with batter. Once it gets cooked on one side, flip and toast the bread slices till its golden brown on both the sides.

Serve with tomato sauce.

  19. @Gayathri : I followed the orginal recipe as per that it needs no roasting may be if you prefer you can roast and add it to form the batter.

  20. hi, I made this today with bread and last night chapati, both were yummy although chapati require thinly chopped onion for easy spread.

    Overall method was eay and yummy. Thanks for the recipe.

  21. Can you clarify the "Rava" ingredient in making an eggless French Toast? Should I take rice Rava or wheat rava? If so, should it be like a powder or small sized granules?

    If I use Rava granules, will it not taste dry and hard when we chew on it? Please clarify my doubts.. Thanx for the help in advance...
