I love making this slice whenever I feel like having something sweet but do not want to stand in the kitchen for long. It looks so colorful and bright because of all those dry fruits. You can cut them into small squares or long bars and it still tastes so delicious. Kids also enjoy this very much since it melts in the mouth and has fun crunchy bits too.

    About White Christmas Slice

White Christmas Slice is one easy no-cook dessert that I like to make during cold months. It is originally a festive recipe but really you can make it anytime. The mix of coconut, milk powder and sugar gives it a rich creamy flavor and rice krispies gives nice light crunch. I have used tutti frutti and cranberry which makes it look bright.

Butter and coconut oil helps everything bind together and gives smooth glossy texture without using stove for long. It also sets firm once chilled. Coconut and milk powder gives nice creamy texture while rice krispies and dry fruits add tiny crunch in between. You can easily make it one day before and keep in fridge till serving.

Sometimes I even try small variations - you can try any dry fruits you have in hand. Once I made it with condensed milk instead of butter and it turned so rich. It tastes even better when slightly cold. This slice is such a savior when I need something fast. This recipe is a must try.

White Christmas Slice is a no cook wonder commonly made during Christmas and simple & quick to make. I usually make it when relatives visit suddenly or for quick snack box treat. It never fails, and it looks so pretty that everyone thinks it took long time to make.

    White Christmas Slice Ingredients

    • Desiccated Coconut - I have used fine desiccated coconut, it gives soft texture and nice coconut flavor.
    • Milk Powder - I used full cream milk powder which gives more rich taste. It mix well with coconut and make every bite creamy and soft.
    • Rice Krispies - I have added rice krispies for small crunch. It gives light airy texture and balance the coconut softness well.
    • Powdered Sugar - I used icing sugar as it mix easy and make the slice smooth. You can reduce or increase little sugar as how you like.
    • Dry Fruits - I have added tutti frutti and cranberries for color and small tangy taste. You can try with cashews, almonds or raisins also, all goes nice.
    • Butter - I melted butter just few seconds till it become soft. It gives nice richness and help the mixture to bind together.
    • Coconut Oil - I used small spoon of coconut oil so the slice set better and get mild coconut smell. You can use extra butter also if you like that taste more.

    Expert Tips

    • Use fine coconut - I have used fine desiccated coconut, coarse one will make slice crumbly so avoid that.
    • Melt butter slowly - Heat butter only till it melts, not till it browns. It should mix smoothly with coconut oil.
    • Mix everything gently - I used spatula to mix the ingredients. Do not press too much else the mixture turns sticky.
    • Press and shape neatly - After transferring to tray, I press it well using flat bowl so slice sets firm and even.
    • Keep refrigerated - Always chill for 30 minutes or more before cutting. It helps slice set properly and hold its shape.

    Serving and Storage

Serve White Christmas Slice chilled or slightly cold. It tastes amazing with hot coffee or tea. Keep it in airtight container and refrigerate till serving time. It stays good for 3-4 days easily. Do not leave outside long else it may become soft and sticky.

    FAQS

1.Can I make this with fresh coconut?

Yes you can, but make sure you sauté it little to remove moisture. If not dried properly then slice become soft and break while cutting.

    2.Can I skip coconut oil?

Yes you can skip, just add little more butter or even small spoon of condensed milk. It gives nice binding also.

3.What dry fruits go best in this?

I have used tutti frutti and cranberries but almonds, cashews or raisins also goes well and taste rich.

4.Does this require baking or cooking?

No it is not needed. You just have to mix all together, press in tray and keep for setting in fridge.

5.How long will it stay good?

It stay good for 3 to 4 days when kept in fridge. Keep it covered well else it will catch fridge smell.
