    First time I saw tutti frutti cookies in google and I tried it the very same weekend and glad to have tried it as I enjoyed baking and munching these cookies. Since then these cookies are often made at home. These are eggless cookies and tastes incredibly delicious so do try and enjoy!

    About Tutti Frutti Cookies

    Tutti Frutti Cookies are made using a flour dough shaped into a log then cut into slices and baked. These cookies are rich, buttery and delicious with tutti frutti in every bite. I am sure kids will love it by the look of it as it looks colorful.

    Tutti Frutti is a colorful candied fruit made using raw papaya. It can be used to make a variety of desserts, cookies and cakes. These tutti frutti cookies are easy and quick to make except for the freezing time but worth the wait as these cookies are so delicious.

    I tell you the cookies are very addictive, I kept munching on whenever I saw the cookie container and the cookies were over the same day itself, kids loved it too. The buttery flavor with the crunch from tutti frutti tasted so good.

    Tutti Frutti Cookies Ingredients

    • Flour – I have used all purpose flour or maida. You can try with 50% flour : 50% wheat flour for a healthy alternate.
    • Butter – Butter adds texture and flavor to the cookies so use as mentioned in the recipe.
    • Sugar -Blend white granulated sugar to a fine powder and use it.
    • Tutti Frutti – I used a combination of 3 color tutti frutti to make the cookies look colorful.
    • Vanilla extract – Vanilla extract is added to give the cookies a flavor.

    How to make Tutti Frutti Cookies Step by Step

    1.To a mixing bowl add 1/3 cup butter(at room temperature) and 1/3 cup powdered sugar.

    2.Mix it well until creamy then add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract.

    3.Add 1 cup flour(maida) and 1/3 cup tutti frutti.

    4.Mix well until no dry flour is seen.

    5.Bring it together to a dough do not knead. Add few drops milk if it is crumbly.

    6.Roll it into a cylindrical log like this.

    7.Wrap it using a parchment paper and refrigerate for minimum 1 hour or until it is firm.

    8.Preheat oven at 180 DEG C for 10 minutes. After an hour remove the log from fridge and take out the parchment paper. Cut into 1/4 inch thickness using a sharp knife.

    9.Repeat and finish cutting the log.

    10.Thickness is up to your preference. I like it slightly thin.

    11.Lay a parchment paper on a baking tray. Arrange the cookies leaving at least 2 inches gap between them.

    12.Bake in preheated oven at 180 DEG C for 15 minutes or until edges start to turn golden.

    Cool the cookies then store in an airtight container.

    Expert Tips

    • Choose a sharp knife else sharpen your knife then cut it for clean cookies.
    • Be very careful in checking the cookies after 12 minutes as the cookies tend to easily burn. Make sure to switch off when the edges start browning. It will be soft when taken out, but will become crisp once cooled down.
    • I did not want the cookies to spread so kept the cookies in fridge even during the preheating time.
    • Add 1-2 tablespoon milk only if needed, if the dough is crumbly. I did not add.
    • You can roll the dough and cut into different shapes too.
    • The dough should be firm only then the slices will be clean and neat.

    Serving and Storage

    Store the tutti frutti cookies in an airtight container. Tutti Frutti Cookies tastes great with a cup of coffee or tea. It keeps well in room temperature for about a week, but the dough freezes well for about a month.

    FAQS

    1.What can I replace with tutti frutti?

    You can replace tutti frutti with chocolate chips, chocolate chunks, sprinkles. chopped nuts, dry fruits etc.

    2.Can I use wheat flour?

    Yes you can use wheat flour replacing maida for a healthy alternate.

    3.My mixture is crumbly does not form a dough?

    If butter is less it may happen, you can add 1-2 tablespoon milk to bring it together to a dough. Do not add more milk.

    4.No baking powder is needed?

    Yes this recipe is fairly simple no baking powder or baking is soda is needed.

    5.Can I use cane sugar or brown sugar?

    Yes you can use cane sugar or brown sugar in that case your cookies will be light brown in color instead of white.

      I tried these , with same ingridients and baking for only 15 min , but they turned out soft , even though they had started browning. Whtas the mistke that I might have made ? 🙁 Please help.

        Oh the cookies are soft while taking out but becomes crisp after cooling…Not sure where it went wrong, did you use the mentioned quantity of butter?

      Sharmilee! Need your help! I tried out these cookies yesterday. They tasted great. But any time I try out any of the cookies the dough seems to spread out while baking and they become flat and shapeless 🙁 Can't understand where I am going wrong. I use the same proportion as mentioned in the recipe and also froze the dough. Please help. I really want to bake some perfect cookies for my son!

        If the cookies are not firm enough and butter is more the cookies spread out while baking….You dont need to freeze the cookies…just refrigerate the cookies and then bake am sure it will not spread out…

      Hi Sharmi jee. made the cookies today and it came out very well though I felt that the butter was more. Iam confused about how to measure 6 TBspoon of butter. Whether it should be measured in solid form or liquid form

        Thanks. Iam using amul butter which is commonly used as sandwich butter. Is unsalted butter different ?If it is different then let me know the brand name and where is it available. Please also let me know if I can use refined oil instead of butter.If I can use refined oil then how much is equal to 6TBsp of butter.

        Amul butter is salted I guess…..I most probably use homemade butter.I just followed the orginal recipe so am not sure of oil substitute in this recipe….

        If you have microwave with convection mode you can follow the same instruction given in this recipe, just the baking timing alone + / – according to your oven

      Hi sharmilee..I tried these cookies yesterday after cooling down they turned out very soft. If I bake them for few more minutes they get burnt. I don't know what was the mistake. Can you help me?

        These cookies are soft when taken out, only after cooling it becomes crisp….Not really sure what went wrong…

      Hi ..I tried ur recipe n it was good but I dnt understand how to know it's done..as it remain spongy n soft through out but after 30 mins in oven it was all done with red brown color..it suppose to b white brown..is it remain soft n get hard later..

        It will be soft when taken out of the oven then after 5-10mins of cooling down it turns crisp…The color should be golden only then it will crisp if you overbake it will turn out hard
