Butter Corn - Is there anyone who can say no to it?! Mittu prefers mild flavored corn and this butter corn is her favorite but I love masala corn. I make butter corn oftenf or her snack box as it is healthy, tasty and filling. The buttery flavor enhances the natural sweetness of the corn, creating a savory-sweet balance.

    About Butter Corn

Butter Corn is a tasty snack made by tossing sweet corn kernels with butter, salt and flavoring it. It is enjoyed for its buttery richness and natural sweetness. Warm, flavorful, and easy to prepare, butter corn is a favorite among both kids and adults.

The corn is typically boiled or steamed until tender, then tossed in butter, often with a sprinkle of salt, pepper, and optional spices like chaat masala, paprika, or herbs. There is nothing fancy about the recipe, its very easy with the available ingredients in your pantry. You can make them for your kids.

Butter Corn is a popular quick-fix dish in many homes and also a common item at fairs, cinemas, and street stalls. This butter corn is often demanded by kids so I make sure to make it at least once a month.

Seeing mittu even gugu started liking butter corn and that is how strong elder siblings influence is. I love butter corn but is is very mild for my taste buds so more seasonings and make it spicy for me and hubby.

    Butter Corn Ingredients

    • Sweet corn - Choose fresh tender sweet corn. You can use corn on the corn boil, shave the kernels and use it or use shredded corn kernels that is readily available in the market or use frozen corn.
    • Butter - I used homemade unsalted butter so used salt. If using salted butter skip salt.
    • Spice powders - I have used pepper powder and chat masala powders, you can add any seasoning of your choice.

    Expert Tips

    • Corn - Always choose fresh or good quality sweet corn (either fresh kernels or frozen). This ensures natural sweetness and a tender bite. You can use frozen corn too if you don't get fresh corn.
    • Cooking corn - Boil or steam corn just until tender. Overcooking can make it mushy and dull in flavor.
    • Seasoning - Make sure to add seasonings while the corn is hot so that it blends well. You can even make it plain by using just butter. You can add mixed herbs if you want or plus or minus the spice as per your liking.
    • Spices - You can also add a pinch of red chili powder for extra spice. I prefer a mild spicy version , if you prefer more spice level then you can add roasted jeera powder along with red chili powder.

      Serving and Storage

Butter Corn can be served as a snack, tastes best when hot. Butter corn tastes best when it's served immediately after preparation, while it's still warm and buttery.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat in a microwave or stovetop until warmed through. Add a little extra butter if it is dry.

      FAQS

      1. Can I use frozen corn for butter corn?

Yes. Frozen sweet corn works perfectly. Just boil or steam it as per package instructions before mixing with butter and seasonings.

2.How can I make butter corn spicier?

You can add chili flakes, more crushed black pepper, peri peri spice, or a dash of hot sauce for a spicy kick.

      3. Is butter corn healthy?

Butter corn can be a moderately healthy snack when made with minimal butter. Corn is rich in fiber and antioxidants, but it's best to limit the butter or use healthier alternatives like olive oil or ghee for a lighter version.

      4. Can I make butter corn in advance?

Yes, you can prepare it in advance and store it in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat gently and stir in fresh butter before serving to restore the creamy texture.

      • Mayonnaise
