Ingredients

  • 1 cup maida
  • cup butter at room temperature
  • cup powdered sugar
  • cup tutti frutti
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  • To a mixing bowl add ⅓ cup butter(at room temperature) and ⅓ cup powdered sugar.
  • Mix it well until creamy then add ½ teaspoon vanilla extract.
  • Add 1 cup flour(maida) and ⅓ cup tutti frutti.
  • Mix well until no dry flour is seen.
  • Bring it together to a dough do not knead. Add few drops milk if it is crumbly.
  • Roll it into a cylindrical log like this.
  • Wrap it using a parchment paper and refrigerate for minimum 1 hour or until it is firm.
  • Preheat oven at 180 DEG C for 10 minutes. After an hour remove the log from fridge and take out the parchment paper. Cut into ¼ inch thickness using a sharp knife.
  • Repeat and finish cutting the log.
  • Thickness is up to your preference. I like it slightly thin.
  • Lay a parchment paper on a baking tray. Arrange the cookies leaving at least 2 inches gap between them.
  • Bake in preheated oven at 180 DEG C for 15 minutes or until edges start to turn golden.

Notes

  • Choose a sharp knife else sharpen your knife then cut it for clean cookies.
  • Be very careful in checking the cookies after 12 minutes as the cookies tend to easily burn.
  • Make sure to switch off when the edges start browning.
  • It will be soft when taken out, but will become crisp once cooled down.
  • I did not want the cookies to spread so kept the cookies in fridge even during the preheating time.
  • Add 1-2 tablespoon milk if needed, if the dough is crumbly. I did not add.
  • You can roll the dough and cut into different shapes too. The dough should be firm only then the slices will be clean and neat.
