The best part about this vanilla popsicle is that it can be customized the way you wish. I have added cream and milk powder for a creamier texture. They are just not easy to make, but they are also guilt-free dessert options for kids compared to the store-bought.

    About Vanilla Popsicle

Vanilla Popsicle is a delightful frozen dessert that is kids-friendly and no guilt involved, offering the best creamy treat on the stick, where indulgence knows no limit. This brings back the old memories of paal ice that many of us had enjoyed thoroughly during our childhood days.

With the basic steps and ingredients, this refreshing dessert is created without additives and lots of love. Vanilla popsicle is the best way to beat the heat and let kids enjoy ice cream in their comfort zone with friends and family.

This recipe came to me as an accident. I ran out of rose essence the other day and my daughter was craving a dessert for a long time. I was not sure about the taste, but my inner instinct was waving a green flag.

Without a second thought, I gathered the ingredients from my pantry, mixed and set the molds to freeze. She woke up in a grumpy mood the next day and these vanilla popsicles were a surprise and acted as an instant mood changer. We had served this as a snack mid-morning and in no time, popsicles were finished as it tasted so good.

    Vanilla Popsicle Ingredients

    • Full cream milk – I have used full cream milk for additional richness. You can replace it with cows milk milk. However, the results might vary.
    • Sugar – I have used white sugar, you can use cane sugar or brown too.
    • Fresh cream – I have used homemade cream. You can use store-bought for the recipe. This adds the luxurious richness to the Popsicle.
    • Milk powder – Adds the milky flavor and helps reduce the formation of ice crystals.
    • Vanilla Essence – I used homemade vanilla essence. It is a flavoring agent, that enhances the overall flavor of the popsicle.

    Expert Tips

    • Full cream milk – This is the key ingredient for the popsicle. It gives a creamy texture and richness.
    • Cool the mixture – It is important to cool the mixture completely before pouring it into the molds. Hot or warm liquids can cause uneven freezing and may have an icy texture.
    • Mix well – Stir it once before adding it to the molds. Vanilla and sugar tend to settle in the bottom if the mixture is left for too long.
    • Cover the molds – Cover the molds tightly with cling wrap or lid so there is no room for ice crystals to form on the top.
    • DO NOT DISTURB – Let the Popsicle rest for a good 6-8 hours, or overnight for perfect results.
    • Let them sit – To easily release the popsicle from the molds, leave them out for 10 minutes or dip them in warm water before pulling them out.

    Serving and Storage

Serve this delicious Vanilla Popsicle straight out of the mould. You can dip these popsicles in hot chocolate or sprinkle nuts and chips for a variation. You can serve the popsicle along with fresh-cut fruits, brownies, or cakes. This dessert is perfect for kids’ parties and play dates.

You can store the mold in the freezer section for 7-10 days. Avoid frequent opening of the freezer and placing them next to strong-filled aroma dishes. This helps in retaining the vanilla flavour. If they are turned icy or hard, let them sit at room temperature for 2-3 minutes before serving.

    FAQS

    1.Can I use low-fat milk instead of full-fat?

Yes, you can. However, the texture will be different. You might experience a slightly icy and less creamy popsicle. Full-fat milk adds richness to the popsicle and yields the best results.

2.Can I sweeten it with jaggery or honey?

You can experiment with jaggery and honey. The taste, color, and appearance of the popsicle might be different. If you are using honey, add it only once the mixture is cooled down completely.

3.How long should I freeze the popsicles?

It is advisable to freeze the popsicles for at least 6-8 hours or overnight for perfect results. Don’t open the freezer frequently.

4.My popsicles are too hard. What went wrong?

This might happen when the popsicle freezes too quickly or lack of fat content in the mixture. Use full-fat cream milk and stir the ingredients well. Cool it completely before transferring it into molds.

5.I don’t have a popsicle mold. What else can I use?

No worries. You can use small steel tumblers, paper cups, or even ice cube trays. All you need to do is, insert a stick after the mixture is semi-frozen. This helps the stick to stay upright.
