About Grape Sorbet
Sorbet is a different kind of dessert that is easy to make, simple, and doesn’t include dairy. They are water-based desserts, served as an after-meal dessert. Grapes Sorbet is a perfect, guilt-free dessert for the ones who cannot resist sweet bites after a meal.
You can serve it in scoops and garnish it well with mint leaves or orange zest, or a dusting of powdered sugar or you can go simple with roasted nuts. You can serve this as the perfect afternoon kitty party dessert, adding its vibe to get together.
It was one evening when my daughter demanded something sweet and cold. I opened the fridge and saw a box of grapes lying there, waiting to be used. I wanted to make a smoothie but then she wanted something unusual, and sorbet came to the rescue. I blended the grapes without water to extract maximum juice. I add sugar and orange juice to the extracted juice.
I froze it for 2 hours and blended again for a smooth texture. I had enough time before she started peeping into the freezer again, so blended it 4-5 times in intervals of 2 hours for a smooth texture. And impatiently, I had to take a serving out for her to taste it, while I allowed the rest of it to freeze overnight. I scooped some for her and garnished it with chocolate sauce.

Grape Sorbet Ingredients
- Seedless Grapes – I have used black seedless grapes. Grapes should be nice and pulpy for additional flavors.
- Sugar – Sugar is the sweetener here. You can skip if you like it plain but it will be slightly sour. Sugar gives a perfect balance between the tanginess of oranges and sourness of grapes.
- Fresh orange juice – This balances the flavors of the sorbet, adding its tanginess.

Expert Tips
- Use Seedless Grapes – Using seedless grapes gives a smooth texture and makes it hassle-free for blending. If you are using grapes with seeds, you need to strain the pulp carefully.
- Test before adding sugar – Grapes vary in sweetness, so it is better to taste the pulp first before adding sugar.
- Add Orange Juice – It brightens and balances the flavor. You can replace orange juice with lemon juice.
- Blend, strain, and freeze – It is important to blend and strain the mixture to remove the bits of skin and get a velvety finish.
- Freeze in shallow containers – Use wide, shallow containers to freeze sorbet faster and evenly.
- Blend every 2-3 hours while freezing – this step is important as it helps break the ice crystals and make sorbet smoother.
- Don’t over freeze – Let the sorbet freeze overnight. Don’t leave it for long or you might have a hard sorbet. Give resting time for at least 5 mins once you take it out from the fridge.
- Garnish for Extra touch – You can add fresh mint leaves, drizzle some chocolate sauce, honey, or even a bit of lemon zest.
Serving and Storage
Scoop and serve the sorbet using ice cream scooper. Remove it from the deep freezer and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. This makes the sorbet soft and scoopable.
You can drizzle chocolate sauce, lemon zest, orange zest and even few mint leaves for a different garnish option. You can serve them with butter cookies as accompaniment.
Store the sorbet in an airtight, freezer-safe container to prevent ice crystals and freeze burns. Cover the sorbet with a cling wrap on the surface before sealing it. This helps to keep the ice crystals away.
You can enjoy the sorbet for 2-3 days and can last up to a week. Once you thaw it, don’t refreeze it. It is important to scoop up the sorbet and freeze it immediately.
FAQS

2.Can I skip orange juice?
Yes, you can but citrus helps in balancing the sweetness and enhance the flavor.
3.What other sweeteners can I use?
You can use honey or jaggery replacing sugar but the flavor and taste will change. White sugar works best.
4.Do I need an ice cream maker for this recipe?
Not at all! That’s the best part about this sorbet. You don’t need an ice cream maker. You can use a regular mixer to make this sorbet.
5.Why is my sorbet icy and not soft?
You may have frozen for a long without continuous stirring. Ensure you are stirring it in intervals of 2-3 hours. The more times you stir, the smoother sorbet you get.
