Ingredients

  • 2 cups grapes
  • ¼ cup water
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup fresh orange juice

Instructions

  • Remove the grapes from its stem, rinse it well. Transfer it to a blender / mixer.
  • Grind it well without adding water. Strain through a metal strainer.
  • Extract the juice completely.
  • Add orange / lemon juice and sugar. Mix well till sugar completely dissolves.
  • Pour in freezer proof container and freeze for 3 hours.
  • After 3 hours once it starts to freeze, transfer to a mixer and blend it. Do this every 2 hours to get a smooth mixture. Then finally freeze it for 4-5 hours or overnight.
  • Scoop and serve Serve Grape Sorbet immediately.

Notes

  • Use Seedless Grapes – Using seedless grapes gives a smooth texture and makes it hassle-free for blending. If you are using grapes with seeds, you need to strain the pulp carefully.
  • Test before adding sugar – Grapes vary in sweetness, so it is better to taste the pulp first before adding sugar.
  • Add Orange Juice – It brightens and balances the flavor. You can replace orange juice with lemon juice.
  • Blend, strain, and freeze – It is important to blend and strain the mixture to remove the bits of skin and get a velvety finish.
  • Freeze in shallow containers – Use wide, shallow containers to freeze sorbet faster and evenly.
  • Blend every 2-3 hours while freezing – this step is important as it helps break the ice crystals and make sorbet smoother.
  • Don’t over freeze – Let the sorbet freeze overnight. Don’t leave it for long or you might have a hard sorbet. Give resting time for at least 5 mins once you take it out from the fridge.
  • Garnish for Extra touch – You can add fresh mint leaves, drizzle some chocolate sauce, honey, or even a bit of lemon zest.
