Cream Cheese Frosting that goes well with carrot cake, red velvet cake and much more. Lets learn to make Cream Cheese Frosting with just 4 ingredients. Let us learn Cream Cheese Frosting with step by step pictures and video.

    cream cheese frosting

This is  a very easy cream cheese frosting recipe that you can make with jsut 4 ingredients.

If you are bored of the usual vanilla buttercream frosting or fresh cream frosting then this one if just right for you. This frosting is sweet and tangy perfect to suit my taste buds.

    Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe

There are so many cream cheese recipes I've seen but what I understood is if the ratio is not correct the frosting turns out runny. And even worse it when you make 2-3 layered cakes where the cake may slip off because of the runny frosting.

Though the traditional cream cheese frosting calls for 1:3 ratio that is for 1 cup cream cheese it is 3 cups of icing sugar, I somehow feel its too sweet especially for the cream cheese we get in Indian markets. So I used 1:2 ratio and it worked perfectly. Also the cupcakes are already sweet so this is perfect.

First to a mixing bowl add butter, cream cheese beat well in high speed using a electric mixer. Beat until light and fluffy. Add vanilla essence, give a quick beat. Next sieve and add icing sugar. Beat well until creamy and almost stiff peaks form, but be careful do not overbeat.

    How to avoid runny frosting?

    • Make sure you follow the ingredients measure.
    • Also check if your cream cheese has water content, if so drain it completely and then add.
    • Cream cheese should be chill but not hard.
    • Butter should be softened and should be at room temperature.
    • Icing sugar and powdered sugar are different. Icing sugar has cornflour in it so make it perfect for frostings. It gives good stability and structure to your frosting so only icing sugar should be used for this recipe.
    • If its still loose you can chill the frosting for few hours which might thicken it a bit.

    Variations

    • You can use 1:3 ratio also if you are ok with sweetness.
    • So it is 1 cup cream cheese ½ cup butter and 3 cups icing sugar.
