    About Butterscotch Milkshake

Butterscotch Milkshake is a simple blended drink made with milk with butterscotch flavors. The main taste comes from butterscotch sauce and chips which gives that signature buttery caramel flavor. Ice cream is optional but it makes the shake more rich and heavy. Even without ice cream also it tastes delicious.

The texture is smooth and frothy when blended perfectly. Ice cubes help in giving chilled effect and slight thickness to the drink. When you drizzle sauce inside the glass before pouring, it looks more attractive and little fancy. Small butterscotch chips also gives tiny crunchy bites in between.

There are few simple variations you can try at home. You can add little vanilla ice cream if butterscotch ice cream is not there at home. You can also top it with some whipped cream to make it more rich and more indulgent in taste. You can also keep it simple without adding too much extra things and it is also easy choice for sudden sweet cravings.

It is usually made on weekend evenings when everyone is at home. It's just quick to make and no cooking needed for this recipe.

    Butterscotch Milkshake Ingredients

    • Milk - I used milk for creamy base. It give richness and smooth texture, do not use very thin milk for this recipe as it may not taste good.
    • Butterscotch ice cream - I topped with a scoop of butterscotch ice cream for creamy finish at the end. It slowly melts and mix with layers which makes it more delicious and smooth in taste.
    • Butterscotch sauce - I used this for strong butterscotch flavor and extra sweetness. It also helps in decorating the glass from inside, adjust the quantity as per your liking and sweetness level.
    • Butterscotch chips - I added these for little crunch and more taste. It give small bites while drinking, you can skip if not available at home.
    • Ice cubes - I added few ice cubes to make it nicely chilled and refreshing. It also help in blending the shake more frothy and smooth.

    Expert Tips

    • Chilled milk - I usually keep milk in fridge for some time before making the milkshake.
    • Blending - I blend until I see froth on top. If blended less, shake may feel flat and not airy.
    • Drizzle sauce - I slide butterscotch sauce along the sides of glass before pouring. It makes it look more attractive and kids like that.
    • Check sweetness - Some ice creams are already very sweet. Taste once and then decide if extra sauce is needed or not.
    • Serving - I serve fresh and cold for best. If kept for long time, ice cubes may melt and make it watery.

    Serving and Storage

Serve Butterscotch Milkshake immediately in tall glasses with little extra sauce drizzle on top if you like. This goes well as evening treat or simple dessert after lunch. It is best consumed fresh and not stored for long hours. If you refrigerate also, texture may change little and froth will reduce.
