    About Ghee Coffee

Ghee Coffee is a rich and creamy beverage made by blending freshly brewed coffee with a spoonful of ghee (clarified butter). Ghee Coffee has a buttery taste and provides a source of healthy fats and acts as a great energy booster. The fat from the ghee helps create a frothy, latte-like consistency when blended properly.

Ghee Coffee is not new. It's an old traditional idea, now getting popular and coming back in trend. Ghee is known for its good fats and digestive benefits. In Ayurveda, ghee is used in many drinks and tonics to boost energy and balance the body. When you add ghee to coffee, it makes the drink smooth and easy to digest.

Ghee coffee is known by various names like keto coffee, bulletproof coffee, butter coffee(when made with butter). This drink is quite like bulletproof coffee, which uses butter or oil. Made with brewed black coffee, this is creamy, smooth and a naturally energizing drink.

Ghee coffee is very simple to make. It just uses desi ghee which we usually have at home. It is good for people who want to avoid dairy, cream or milk. The best thing is, no fancy ingredients are needed. You can make this with whatever you already have in the kitchen.

This drink is very filling. It keeps hunger away for some time. That's why people on keto or low-carb diets drink it often. It also helps some people avoid acidity which they get from plain black coffee. The ghee gives a smooth finish and reduces the strong sharpness of coffee.

I started having ghee coffee in the mornings and it makes me feel light and fresh. It's simple to make and keeps me full for a long time. Even if you are not following any diet, this is a good wholesome drink to have once in a while.

    Ghee Coffee Ingredients

    • Hot Water - This is the key ingredient for the drink. The water should be hot, not just warm. Then only the ghee will melt properly and coffee powder will mix smooth.
    • Coffee Powder - You can use any strong coffee powder. Instant coffee is quick and easy, but coffee grounds gives a more deep flavor. Use whichever one you have at home. Both works fine. If using coffee grounds prepare coffee decoction and then blend it with ghee.
    • Ghee - Use fresh desi ghee, either homemade or store-bought. Ghee gives a rich taste and makes the coffee creamy. Don't use too much, just a little is enough to make it rich and filling.

    Expert Tips

    • Blend well - Just mixing with spoon not enough. Blend it using mixer or hand blender to get smooth and frothy coffee.
    • Hot water- Water should be really hot. Only then ghee will melt and mix nicely with coffee.
    • Try with decoction - Make decoction with coffee powder and hot water, then add ghee and blend. This gives a more filter coffee kind of taste.
    • Don't skip blending - The key to creamy texture is blending. Just mixing with spoon will not give that frothy layer.
    • Drink fresh - This is not a make-ahead drink. It tastes best when fresh and hot. If left for long, it will separate.

    Serving and Storage

Ghee Coffee should be served hot and fresh. Pour in a small tumbler or glass and drink slowly. It gives warmth and comfort. There is no need to store or refrigerate it. Since it doesn't have milk or sugar, it doesn't spoil fast, but still it's best to make only when you are going to drink. Do not reheat or keep it for later - the texture won't be the same.

    FAQS

1.Can I use filter coffee decoction?

Yes, you can. Just prepare decoction using your regular method and add ghee to it. Blend well before drinking. I have used my moka pot to prepare coffee decoction.

2.Is ghee coffee good in the morning?

Yes, many people take it first thing in the morning. It gives energy and keeps you full. But if you feel acidity, better to have after eating something.

3.Can I make this with milk?

This recipe is without milk. But you can add milk if you want. Still, the texture will be different and it won't be the same light drink.

4.Can I add sugar or jaggery?

You can, but traditionally it is had plain. If you like little sweetness, use jaggery powder or palm sugar.

    5.Can kids drink this?

It is better for adults. Kids should avoid coffee because of the caffeine.
