    About Paasi Payaru Sundal

‘Paasi Payaru’ is green gram dal and ‘Sundal’ is basically a stir fry made with legumes so Paasi Payaru Sundal is stir fried dish made with green gram dal. Sundal is made Navaratri but you can make it regular for snack time too as it is wholesome and healthy.

I am fond of sundal varieties and this sundal is my favorite since my childhood days. Amma used to make sundal at least twice a week and I am trying to incorporate that habit too. Mittu and gugu like sundal varieties but limited to very few.

Serve warm as a evening snack or even for breakfast!

    Expert Tips

    • You can even add powdered jaggery as such but to remove impurities I always heat up and strain.
    • I did not make the syrup thick, just tossed it in a semi runny syrup. You can make the jaggery syrup a bit thicker to coat the sundal, its your preference.
    • You can make a easy version by just mixing jaggery syrup and coconut without tempering, that tastes good too.
    • You can replace green chilies instead of red chilies.
    • Adjust sweetness according to your taste. As per the measurements given this is mildy sweet.

    Serving and Storage

Paasi Payaru Sundal can be served for snack time. This keeps well in fridge for 1 day.
