Jamun mix halwa a quick and easy sweet to make for Diwali.

jamun mix halwa recipe

Gulab jamun mix halwa recipe a very quick and easy 10 mins halwa using ready made jamun mix.I always want to experiment sweet recipes using jamun mix eversince I tried kofta curryĀ and cookies. So this year for diwali when I was thinking of recipes to try this topped my list and I am so happy that it turned out so good.

I have a craze for measuring cups and love to own different types.I was searching for ceramic measuring cups and finally found these cute and colorful measuring cups from omega glassware in chennai, ordered and received it a month back. These measuring cups was waiting to be inaugrated and thought what else than a sweet to start with šŸ™‚

Storage instructions:

  • You can store this halwa in room temperature for 2 days.
  • You can store in fridge for upto 5 days. But while serving reheat and serve.

Variations:

  • If you want chocolate flavoured halwa you can add 2 tbsp coco powder to the mixture.
  • You can add powdered nuts and add it too.
  • You can add tutti fruitt or any dryfruits of your choice.
  • You can replace cane sugar with brown sugar or white sugar too.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup gulab jamun mix
  • 1 and 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup cane sugar
  • 2 tbsp cashews broken
  • 1/4 cup ghee
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder

Instructions

  • Measure and get all your ingredients ready. To a mixing bowl add jamun mix, cane sugar and water.
  • Whisk well until no lumps then strain.Set the mixture aside.
  • To a pan - heat little ghee add cashews fry until golden brown.Remove and set aside.to the same pan add jamun mix mixture.Keep whisking in low flame to avoid lumps.
  • It will start to thicken in few mins.At this stage switch to spatula.Keep cooking in low flame. When it starts to thicken start adding ghee little by little. It starts to leave the sides of the pan and start rolling.
  • At this stage add remaining ghee and cook until its nonsticky. Now add ghee fried cashews and cardamom powder.Give a quick mix and switch off.
  • Easy and quick halwa ready in minutes.

Notes

  • The halwa is very smooth, if you like a texture then add 1/4 cup powdered nuts to the jamun-water mixture then proceed with same steps.
  • I felt the sweet was just right but if you prefer a bit more sweeter then add 3/4 cup sugar. It purely depends on the cane sugar variety you use.
  • You can add any nuts of your choice either cashews, almonds or even pistachios.
I used homemade ghee so the flavour was too good.Use pure aromatic ghee for best flavour.
  • If you want chocolate flavoured halwa you can add 2 tbsp coco powder to the mixture.
