I am a complete coffee person and can’t get the day going without my morning or evening coffee (yes I restrict myself to one coffee per day). I love both filter coffee and instant coffee. Even when my days are dull, it lifts up and refreshes my mood when I have a cup of coffee. This espresso coffee is so refreshing and making it at home ois so easy even without coffee machine.

    About Espresso Coffee

‘Espresso’ is an Italian word which refers to coffee brewed by forcing hot water through finely ground roasted coffee beans. So espresso is basically black coffee which is intense made using darkly roasted coffee beans. Espresso Coffee can be made using sugar or without it depending upon one’s taste and preference.

Espresso Coffee is traditionally made using espresso machine which brews coffee by forcing boiling hot water in high pressure through finely ground coffee which produces a thick, concentrated coffee called espresso. Espresso is mixed with water to make black coffee or americano and mixed with steamed, frothy milk to make cappuccino and other varieties of coffee.

Espresso coffee is made using coffee machine but as I don’t have access to it, I started trying out ways to make without it. Authentically espresso coffee is made finely roasted and grind coffee beans but you can make it using instant coffee powder also.

    Espresso Coffee Ingredients

    • Coffee Powder – Use freshly roasted and grind coffee for intense flavor of espresso. You can use any instant coffee powder of your choice. Coffee powder is the main ingredient that gives taste so choose a strong and intense one.
    • Water – You can use hot or warm water.

    Moka Pot

Moka pot is a special equipment used to brew coffee. It has a lower chamber where water is added, a filter basket to add coffee powder and the upper chamber which collects the brewed coffee.

A moka pot has three chambers: one for the water, one for the ground coffee, and one for the finished brew. The coffee made using moka pot is called as espresso which can be mixed with water to make black coffee.

The easy way to make espresso coffee at home is to brew thick concentrated black coffee using filter or moka pot. If using instant coffee powder boil hot water well, then pour it in serving glass add instant coffee powder, set aside to seep in well.

Usually espresso coffee is strong and intense that is the main difference between black coffee and espresso. I never thought making espresso coffee at home without the machine is such an easy task, I am sure I’ll make it more often now. Do try and enjoy!

I ordered the moka pot from amazon and the first time I used it I was way too excited and it is so satisfying to watch the moka pot brew the coffee and the excitement has still not reduced. I usually brew thick, strong decoction for making filter coffee, rarely drink espresso.

      Sharmile,

There is typo in the method, it should be coffee powder not coco powder you are adding with sugar. If I read the ingredients correctly. Delicious coffee love to have sip.
