  • Water
  • Sugar optional

Instructions

Espresso without machine, equipment

  • To a sauce pan boil water, switch off.
  • Use ground slightly coarse coffee powder.
  • Add 1 heaped teaspoon to a glass.
  • Add about 60 ml to 70 ml hot water to it. Add more or less according to your preference. If you add less water your espresso will be strong, add more water to make it thin.
  • Mix it well and let it steep in for 2-3 minutes.
  • Transfer this to a strainer. Discard the remains.
  • Pour espresso in shot glass and serve hot!

Espresso using Moka Pot

  • First fill in the moka pot with water till just below the safety valve.
  • Now fix the perforated basket.
  • Fill it with coffee powder loosely and level it using a butter knife. Do not press tight, it should be loose.
  • Close with upper chamber and screw up tightly.
  • Keep the moka pot in low flame.
  • In few minutes it starts flowing out. The first comes stronger and thicker.
  • Slowly it becomes weaker and thinner. When the flowing starts to slow down switch off.
  • Mix it well so that it is even.
  • Pour in shot glass and serve hot.

Espresso with sugar froth

  • To a bowl add 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder along with 3 teaspoon sugar and 1-2 teaspoon warm water.
  • Beat well using a spoon.
  • Keep beating until it becomes thick, pale brown in color and creamy.
  • Spoon this mixture to the serving glass.
  • Add prepared espresso and serve hot!
  • Enjoy your espresso hot!

Notes

  • Espresso Coffee is strong and intense so this measure will be great. If you want to tone it down then reduce coffee powder a bit.
  • Use ground coffee powder preferably.
  • Instant coffee powder can be used for sugar froth. You can even use brewed coffee instead of coffee powder for making the sugar froth.
  • Using sugar or skipping it is your preference. But authentically espresso coffee needs no sugar.
  • Thick or thin brew is purely your choice but espresso is usually intense and strong.
  • While brewing coffee in moka pot mix it well using a spoon to make it even.
  • Use shot glasses to serve espresso as it is usually served in shots.
