    About Chocolate Mug Cake

Who will not say no to chocolate? This Chocolate Mug ake Recipe is too good and is a must try and can be made often too as it is a no guilt mug cake. This Chocolate Mug Cake Recipe will not let you down as it is perfected with more than 50 mugs of the wonder! And the beauty is the craving will never end for this yummiest, moist Chocolate Mug Cake!

    Why Chocolate Mug Cake?

Chocolate Cake is favourite for many and to make it often requires time, effort and lot of ingredients. Chocolate Mug Cake is the solution to all – as it can be made real quick, effortless and with lesser ingredients.

Chocolate Mug Cake is my kids favourite, so I keep making it often and have experimented lot of variations with ingredients, appliances and mugs!

Chocolate Mug Cake – Oven, Microwave and Stove Top Version

    • Microwave – With Microwave, it takes less than 10 minutes from scratch to end to prepare the cake. It is quickest method but I always opt for oven method as I don’t own a microwave considering the health factors.
    • Oven – OTG / oven needs preheating time of 10 minutes while we can get the flour blend ready and baking time of 15-20 minutes.
    • Stove top steaming : This works well too and is perfect for those who don’t own any oven but want to try mug cake recipes.

Chocolate Mug Cake – Maida & Wheat Flour Versions

Chocolate Mug Cake is generally made with All Purpose Flour or maida. Since we started making it almost every week, I thought of minor healthy twist and tried quiet a number of iterations to get the perfect Wheat Flour Chocolate Mug Cake – the kids will not be able to notice the difference in the cake but can – in my smile!

    Chocolate Cake Ingredients

    • Flour: You can use either maida (all-purpose flour) or wheat flour for this recipe. Refer to the respective heading for accurate measurements. Flour can be either homemade or store-bought.
    • Coco Powder: I have used Hershey’s coco powder and chocolate shavings / choco chips for the extra choclatey taste! However it is not mandatory to add shavings if you do not have it.
    • Sugar: Sugar does the magic with coco powder – Use regular granulated sugar / fine sugar for this recipe. Use cane sugar if you are diet conscious, however you might notice a slight change in the taste.
    • Rising Agent & Flavours: I have used Baking Soda as rising agent and vanilla essence for flavours. Add odourless cooking oil – refined sunflower or refined rice bran oil which aids in getting evenly cooked moisty cake. Gingelly / Groundnut / Coconut oil may overpower the cake – hence avoid them.
    • Milk: Toned / full cream all sorts of milk will work for this recipe. For vegan option, you can replace with Badam / Almond milk or soy milk but I have not tried with them.

    Expert Tips

    • Make sure to use only oven safe mugs – else the mug will break during baking. Oven Safe mugs are available at Home Centre, @home, Currimbhoys, PoppatJamals& online in Amazon &Flipkart
    • If your mug is small then pour in 2 mugs and bake. The batter rises well so choose a mug accordingly.
    • You can prepare the mix individually in mugs or in a mixing bowl & transfer to mugs based on the quantity you are planning to make.
    • Do not double the ingredients and add it in the same mug – the bottom will not get cooked. Alternatively you can double/triple measures in a bowl and then transfer to mugs.
    • The cake is mildly sweet, if you prefer you can increase sweetness.
    • Add odourless cooking oil, else oil will overpower with smell & taste.
    • Do not rest the batter. Just mix, pour and bake it as soon as it’s mixed.
    • OTG / Oven version:The timing may vary with oven, so check after 15 mins then proceed accordingly.

Apart from wheat, OTG, microwave variations you can try these variations of Chocolate Mug Cake.

Chocolate Mug Cake tastes best when warm, hot & cold too! You can consume it even next day after refrigerating it!

Serve it as such or with vanilla ice cream or add chocolate sauce / chips as topping. This is the best instant cake for serving guests in individual portions. You can surprise your guests with this instant cake.
