    About Corn Chips

Corn Chips is a super flavorful, crispy snack made using maize flour, flour, salt, oregano, oil and cheese powder for seasoning. Skip the store-bought chips and use homemade corn chips for making nachos or munch it as a snack.

I have seen few brands of nachos chips available in the market but nothing can beat homemade. Homemade corn chips can be served as a snack with cheese sauce or with salsa, they taste great.

Kids and I love doritos but restrict myself to buy them so thought to try it at home. Finally this comes close to taste and flavor and I am so happy to share the recipe here. I agree it is a little effort to make it from scratch but I would say it is all worth it as it tastes so good.

    Expert Tips

    • Dough – Knead the dough well else rolling will be difficult. Sprinkle flour if it sticks. You can use just maize flour but it sticks more while rolling so I always add little amount of maida.
    • Rolling – While rolling use a plastic sheet or silicone mat so that it does not stick much.
    • Cutting – Prick with fork to avoid pudding. Cut into small or medium sized triangles. Use a pizza cutter for ease.
    • Frying – I used flavorless oil for deep frying. Fry in low to medium flame. Some may puff up but don’t worry it will still be crisp.
    • Seasoning – I used cheese powder to replicate doritos taste. You can use other flavoring of your choice too.

    Serving and Storage

Store in dry airtight container. Keeps well for about 2 weeks in room temperature. Serve as a snack with cheese sauce or salsa.

    FAQS

    1.Can I bake it?

Yes you can bake it. Preheat oven at 200 DEG C for 10 minutes and bake in preheated oven for 15-20 minutes.

2.What other seasoning can I add?

You can add sweet chili or barbeque seasoning or sour cream cheese seasoning. Add seasoning of your choice. Even with just chili powder and salt it tastes great.
