    Chocolate Truffles Ingredients

    • Chocolate – You can use dark chocolate or semi sweet or milk chocolate for making truffles. Make sure to buy high and good quality dark chocolate.
    • Cream – Use heavy cream for best results.
    • Butter – Butter creates a silky finish also helps chocolate to melt easily. Also butter hardens while refrigerating making it to easy to roll.
    • Vanilla extract – I used homemade vanilla extract, you can even use vanilla essence too.
ingredients needed to make chocolate truffles

    Chocolate Truffles Topping

I have used desiccated coconut, cocoa powder and chopped nuts to roll and coat the truffles. You can even use chocolate sprinkles, color sprinkles, chopped pistachios, icing sugar etc to coat the truffles.

    • Desiccated coconut – You can use fine desiccated coconut or coconut flakes to coat the truffles.
    • Cocoa powder – Use good quality unsweetened cocoa powder.
    • Nuts – Toast almonds for few minutes then chop it roughly, you can even pulse it in blender.

    To make perfect Chocolate Truffles

    • Chocolate mix – Make sure chocolate, cream and butter are properly melted and combined. The mix should be smooth and creamy.
    • Chilling – Chilling the chocolate mixture for 4 hours minimum or even overnight is a must. Scoop out then again chill it or even freeze it for 30 minutes so that rolling will be easy.
    • Rolling – While rolling between your palms just few rolls is enough. You can even use a frozen pack to chill your palms before rolling.
    • Coating – Immediately coat with cocoa powder, nuts or whatever coating you want to. You can even coat with color sprinkles or chocolate sprinkles.

    Expert Tips

    • Use icing sugar for rolling in place of cocoa powder, if you want it sweet.
    • I used my cookie scoop to scoop out. You can even use a small ice cream scooper or 1 tablespoon measure.
    • You can use nuts, or any flavors in chocolate for variety of truffles.
    • You can use other flavors like peppermint, orange, coffee etc.
    • If you boil the cream it may curdle so just heat it until it starts to boil.
    • Before rolling the ganache in cocoa powder, it will be sticky. You can use gloves while rolling or chill your hands using an ice pack.

    Serving and Storage

Chocolate Truffles tastes great chilled. Refrigerate and serve it. It stays good for about 2 months in fridge.

    FAQS

1.What type of chocolate to use?

Use good and high quality cooking chocolate. Do not use eating chocolate as it might not melt easily and setting to the right consistency is tough. You can use either dark chocolate or milk chocolate or a mix of both.

2.I am not able to roll why?

If the quality of chocolate is not good or if you add less chocolate this may happen. The mixture may turn goey or sticky making it hard to roll. In that case add more melted chocolate to the mixture, refrigerate and try to roll.
