Easy bournvita mug cake without oven and maida. I wanted to give this mug cake a try since a long time and so glad that finally I did. This mug cake can be made without oven, I used the steaming method which works perfectly and gives moist soft cake.

I love trying mug cake recipes as they are easy and quick to make. Also they perfectly satisfy the instant craving with no guilt of eating more. My kids love them so much that I often make them my daily chocolate mug cake.

    Mug cake without oven

This bournvita mug cake can be made without oven. There are several methods to create a stovetop oven for baking. But I mostly prefer steaming method for cakes as it gives soft moist cakes. You can even use our regular idli pot to steam the mug cake, its useful if you are making 2-3 mug cakes. I use a sauce pan as I made just one mug cake.

    Mug cake in oven

You can use oven to bake this mug cake too. Preheat oven at 180 deg C for 10 mins. Bake in preheated oven at 180 deg C for 15-20 mins. Check for doneness after 15 mins then proceeed.

    Variations

    • I have used bournvita powder as I had it. You can use boost or maltova or milo or any chocolate malted powder for this.
    • Add choco chips or nuts or even dry fruits.
    • You can use oil or melted butter replacing ghee.
    • I am not sure of milk alternatives, may be you can try with soya or almond milk.

    Serving Suggestion

    • You can just add sprinklers or add chocolate sauce as topping.
    • You can have it with a scoop of vanilla icecream too.
    • Saying that it doesn’t mean that it can’t be had as such, I tell you it tastes delicious on its own too.
