    Baked Oatmeal Bars are easy to make and perfect to meal prep the previous night and your breakfast is ready in the morning. I tried these bars recently as I had a pack of rolled oats. What I loved the most in this recipe is just mix pour and bake no complicated steps at all.

    About Oatmeal bars

    Oatmeal bars are breakfast bars which are basically like oatmeal in bar form. Oatmeal bars are chewy and crunchy bars made by blending oats with milk, sugar, butter, vanilla and then baking it until golden.

    Oatmeal is prepared by cooking oats with milk and sweetener until a porridge consistency. Oatmeal bars are a great alternate to this, they are also easy to prepare in advance and store so that breakfast is ready at that instant.

    Oatmeal bars are packed with oats and a perfect grab and go breakfast bars. Making oatmeal bars at home is so easy and just takes 10 minutes for preparation, put it into the oven and you can read your favorite book and tada your breakfast oatmeal bars are ready!

    These Oats meal bars are healthier than the store bought bars as they are free from preservatives and added colors, additives. This is the classic version of Oatmeal bars you can easily customize it with your choice of add on and preferences.

    These oatmeal bars are crisp on the outside and chewy inside making it perfect to snack. Do try this baked oatmeal squares and enjoy it for breakfast or as snack.

    Oatmeal Bars Ingredients

    • Oats – Use rolled oats which is perfect for making bars. However you can use quick cooking oats too in that case do not blend more just pulse it few times and proceed. Also the baking time will vary so keep an eye.
    • Sweetener – I used brown sugar. You can use regular white sugar too.
    • Milk – Any milk that is boiled and is warm can be used. You can used toned or full cream milk as per your choice. For vegan option use nut milk or coconut milk or even oat milk.
    • Vanilla essence – Vanilla essence adds flavor to these bars. You can use cocoa powder or any other flavoring too.
    • Butter – Butter helps to grease the bars and gives a crisp texture.

    How to make Oatmeal Bars Step by Step

    1.Preheat oven at 180 deg C. To a mixer jar – add 1 and 1/2 cups rolled oats.

    2.Add 1/2 cup brown sugar.

    3.Add 1 cup milk(boiled, cooled).

    4.Add 1 tablespoon butter.

    5.Add 1/2 teaspoon vanilla essence.

    6.Add 1/2 cup water and Blend it for few seconds until it comes together. It should be coarse not too smooth.

    7.Transfer it to a mixing bowl.

    8.Add 1/2 cup rolled oats.

    9.Mix well. The mixture should be slightly thick but spreadable.If its too thick add little more water.

    10.Grease a 4X4 inches baking tray with butter.

    11.Transfer the mixture to the tray.

    12.Bake in preheated oven for 40-45 mins or until the top turns golden.

    13.Remove it from the baking tray and cool down completely.

    14.Cut into squares and enjoy!

    Expert Tips

    • I used rolled oats which is preferred for this recipe. However you can use quick cooking oats too. But the baking time may vary so keep an eye after 20 minutes.
    • If using quick cooking oats just pulse it in mixer do not grind.
    • You can use regular white sugar or brown according to your choice.
    • Add chopped nuts or chocolate chips as topping or in the batter for a crunch.
    • I have used vanilla essence you can use any flavoring of your choice.
    • Check after 35 mins and bake accordingly, the timing may vary.
    • You can also replace sugar with honey for a healthier alternate.

    Serving & Storage

    Oatmeal bars can be served with a cup of warm milk and a bowl of cut fresh fruits which makes a wholesome breakfast. Oatmeal bars keeps well in room temperature for a day and in fridge for a week.

    FAQS

    1.What else can I add to oatmeal bars?

    • You can add 1/2 cup peanut butter for different flavor.
    • Add 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder or a pinch saffron.
    • You can even add nuts and dry fruits along with the batter and mix it. Walnuts, almonds, pistachios, cranberries are the best options.
    • Add 1/4 cup desiccated coconut for a coconut flavor. Add coconut oil replacing butter.
    • You can even add 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon powder with vanilla essence.
    • Add 1/4 cup cocoa powder for a chocolaty oatmeal bar.
    • You can replace butter with olive oil too.

    2.Is it mandatory to grind oats?

    No you can just mix all the ingredient and bake it too. Blending oats is to break down to a coarse mixture as we like it that way, for texture I add whole rolled oats to the batter at the final step before baking.

    3.Can I freeze the oatmeal bars?

    Yes you can freeze the oatmeal bars. Make sure to cool down completely then wrap in zip lock bags or freezer safe bags or container and freeze it. Thaw the bars in he fridge overnight to enjoy it for breakfast.

      I make 2 batches every week. My husband likes honey & choc chips in his. I add honey, choc chips, walnuts & dried cranberries in mine. Once cool we put in refrigerator we love them cold also. Gave some to a dear friend she loved them asked for recipe which I shared with her. Thank you, Sharmilee & God Bless You

      Recipe says bake in. 4×4 in pan. Is that correct? I never saw that size?

        Yes it is a square 4 inch by 4 inch baking tray
