Makhana Chaat Recipe

Makhana Chaat is made by ghee roasting phool makhana then assembling together with curd, chaat chutneys, sev etc. Makhana Chaat is a delicious, easy to make snack which is relished by everyone. Prepare this quick makhana chaat for evening snack or get together or chaat party.

Instructions

  • To a pan add 1 ½ teaspoon ghee, heat it.
  • Add 1 ½ cups makhana. Roast in low medium flame until crisp.
  • Press to check, if it breaks easily then it is done.
  • Add ⅛ teaspoon turmeric powder, ¼ teaspoon red chilli powder and salt to taste. Give a quick mix. Switch off and remove from flame.
  • To a mixing bowl add 1 ½ cups thick curd, salt to taste and ½ teaspoon sugar. Whisk well until smooth and creamy.
  • Add roasted makhana along with ½ teaspoon red chilli powder, ¼ teaspoon chat masala powder and ¼ teaspoon roasted cumin powder.
  • Mix it well.
  • To a serving bowl first add prepared curd makhana then drizzle green chutney and sweet chutney. around 1 teaspoon each.
  • Sprinkle sev, red chilli powder, chat masala powder, roasted jeera powder, sev, pomegranate, coriander leaves and serve.
  • Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Curd - Use thick curd that is not sour. Adding sugar and salt balances the taste and flavour.
  • Makhana - Always roast makhana until crisp else it will be chewy while easting.
  • Chutneys - You can prepare the chutneys in advance and store it. If you are not able to make it at home then you can use store bought chaat chutneys as it is easily available now.
  • Assemble and Serve - Once makhana is mixed with curd, top up with other ingredients and serve immediately.
  • Measures - I have not added measurements for chutneys, sev, pomegranate and spice powders as it can be as per your liking and taste.
