    Nattu Kozhi Soup isa mild flavorful soup made with country chicken and spices.This is the best remedy for cold and cough as its very soothing for throat.

    We have been buying only country chicken for the past 2 years and after few months we started liking it with skin.Atleast monthly twice or so we buy this chicken and soup is must as kids love it to both drink and have with idli/rice.

    You can serve this soup with idli , dosa or even with rice.

    Nattu Kozhi Soup | Country Chicken Soup

    Ingredients

    • 1/4 kg country chicken I used with skin
    • 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
    • 1/4 cup small onion
    • 1 small tomato
    • 1/8 teaspoon turmeric powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
    • 2 cups water
    • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves
    • salt to taste

    To temper:

    • 1 tablespoon gingelly oil
    • 1/2 inch cinnamon
    • 1 small cardamom
    • 1 no clove
    • few curry leaves

    To grind together:

    • 1/2 teaspoon coriander seeds
    • 1/2 teaspoon jeera
    • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
    • 3 nos small onion
    • little water

    Instructions

    • First grind together the ingredients listed under 'to grind' with little water to a coarse paste and set aside.
    • To a pressure cooker: add the items listed under 'to temper' let it splutter then add ginger garlic paste onion and salt.
    • Saute for 2 mins until golden then add tomato, saute until mushy. Then add chicken along with turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
    • Saute for 3 mins. Then add the coarse mixture saute for a while then add water. Adjust salt if needed.
    • Pressure cook for 5-6 whistles. Let pressure release by itself then open garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot!

    Notes

    If you prefer you can add crushed pepper at the final for extra spice.

    How to make Nattu Kozhi Soup

    1. First grind together the ingredient slisted under ‘to grind’ with little water to a coarse paste and set aside.
    2. To a pressure cooker: add the items listed under ‘to temper’ let it cplutter then add ginger garlic paste onion and salt.
    3. Saute for 2 mins until golden then add tomato, saute until mushy.Then add chicken along with turmeric powder and red chilli powder.
    4. Saute for few mins.Then add the coarse mixture saute for a while then add water.Adjust salt if needed.
    5. Pressure cook for 5-6 whistles.Let pressure release by itself then open garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot! Add crushed pepper if needed.
    6. Serve hot!

    Hot and Tasty chicken soup ready!

        I didn’t have chicken. Had only left over chicken varuval. Made this and added chopped left over chicken and added egg white. Also topped with more fresh cracked pepper. Everyone absolutely loved it. Thank you!!
