    Karthigai Aval Pori is a traditional sweet crispy snack made by roasting puffed rice, aval, peanuts and tossed with jaggery syrup. Karthigai Aval Pori commonly made for Karthigai Deepam and a healthy snack alternate to the packed junk foods.

    This is my most favorite than pori urundai as the crunch in the nuts and coconut elevates the taste to another level. Gugu is also fond of it for that reason and he used to pick all the coconut bits, peanuts and eat it first. Do try this karthigai aval kadalai pori recipe and enjoy!

    Karthigai Aval Pori is a traditional sweet crispy snack made with aval pori and kadalai. To begin with first fry all the ingredients needed, add it to pori and make it ready. Later make jaggery syrup and pori mixture to it to easy karthigai pori. Karthigai pori is easy unlike other dishes which needs major consistency check.

    What if my karthigai pori sticks together?

    It will be sticky while mixing but after cooling it will seperate. If not just break it roughly to seperate.

    What if I miss the jaggery consistency?

    If you miss the consistency also it is ok as it will taste good only. Therefore don’t panic, mix well and spread it on a plate, later store in an airtight container.

    Storing Suggestions:

    • Store in an airtight container keeps well for about 10 days in room temperature itself.
    • Do not refrigerate or freeze karthigai pori.

    Karthigai Aval Pori

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup puffed rice
    • 1/2 cup thin poha
    • 2 tablespoon peanuts
    • 2 tablespoon fried gram dal
    • 1 tablespoon black sesame seeds
    • 1 tablespoon coconut pieces
    • a pinch cardamom powder
    • a pinch pinch dry ginger powder

    For syrup:

    • 1/2 cup jaggery
    • 1/4 cup water

    Instructions

    • Heat a teaspoon of ghee add half of poha and roast until crisp, set aside.
    • Repeat this for the other half, now the poha is fully roasted, remove and set aside.
    • Add peanuts roast till golden, remove and set aside.
    • Then dry roast fried gram dal until golden, remove and set aside.
    • Now add black sesame seeds roast until it pops out, Remove and set aside.
    • Add 2 teaspoon ghee and add coconut bits, fry until golden brown remove and set aside.In another pan add jaggery and water let it boil and melt completely.
    • Once its melted completely strain and add syrup. Boil the syrup. When it starts to thicken, Consistency check : Keep a separate bowl ready with little water. Take a drop of the syrup and put it in water, it should stand firm and not dissolve.
    • Gather to form a loose ball more like a jelly this is perfect consistency. Now add all the roasted ingredients to it.
    • Add puffed rice to it. Add cardamom powder and dry ginger powder. Mix well.it will look sticky but after sometime becomes separated.
    • Store in a clean airtight container. Karthigai Aval Pori keeps well for a week in room temperature itself.

    How to make Karthigai Aval Pori

    Expert Tips

    • Do not add more water while making syrup. If you add more water then it will take time to reach the desired consistency.
    • It may look sticky after sometime it tends to seperate.
    • Use a wide bottomed pan so that mixing is easy.
    • Store in a dry airtight container otherwise it will become soggy.
