    About Roasted Broccoli

Roasted Broccoli is made by first tossing broccoli florets in olive oil, melted butter, garlic, salt and pepper then baking it until golden and crisp. This is a delicious and healthy starter that can be paired up as a side dish too. Roasted broccoli is so easy to make just toss and dump it in oven and relax, your oven roasted broccoli is ready with minimum effort!

During my initial days of baking I was always doubtful if the vegetables will get cooked properly if baked directly but having making it for years now baked vegetable is one of my favorite. Either for soups or sides I love roasting vegetables in oven as it is easy and you don’t need to baby sit.

Whenever we visit the vegetable shop I always search for fresh broccoli and it gives such satisfaction to see the fresh green veggie. I referred 2-3 recipes and tried this oven roasted broccoli, it came out so good that it just pops up like a candy, a perfect starter.

    Roasted Broccoli Ingredients

    • Broccoli – Choose fresh broccoli that has green florets, the color should not be too pale or yellow in color.
    • Oil – Olive oil is best to use for this roasted broccoli.
    • Butter – Adding melted butter is optional but gives a good rich flavor so I always add it.
    • Garlic – Using a grater grate the garlic cloves and use it. You can even mince and use it.
    • Salt – is added to taste
    • Pepper – Freshly cracked pepper is added for spice and flavor.

    Expert Tips

    • Cut your florets to similar size to bake evenly.
    • First immerse the broccoli florets in salted warm water to remove worms if any. Then rinse and dry it.
    • The timing differs from oven to oven so keep an eye and bake accordingly.
    • You can even turn over in between while baking after about 10 minutes.
    • Keep an eye after 12 minutes, then bake accordingly as each oven is different.
    • You can do the same way for other vegetables like carrot, cauliflower, beans etc but timing will change accordingly.
    • You can even add sesame seeds close to the end of the baking time.
    • Finally add parmesan cheese to top it.
    • Once you set the mode to grilling be very careful and keep an eye.
    • You can even add 1 teaspoon lemon juice as a variation.

    Serving and Storage

Oven roasted broccoli can had as such as a starter or appetizer, also can be had as a sandwich or wrap filling, topping for omelette etc. I would not suggest storing as it becomes soggy so serve hot and enjoy!
