    About Paneer Soda

Paneer Soda is one of popular drinks available in stores made using soda, rose essence, sugar and ice cubes. I have had this drink back in school days in my native Karaikudi. Paneer soda and bovonta are few among the drinks I look forward and relish every time we visit there during my school holidays.

I happened to see this recipe in a cookbook and I tried it today, while drinking it I was transferred to my childhood days. This is very easy to make just few ingredients and you could easily make this, best summer drink!

    Expert Tips

    • Adjust the quantity of sugar syrup for each serving according to your preference. But usually paneer soda is less sweet.
    • You can refrigerate and store this rose syrup for about 2 weeks.
    • The syrup is not thick its runny so don’t heat for more time ,just when it starts to turn sticky you switch off.
    • Make sure you cool down the sugar syrup and only then add rose essence.
    • I used Kinley plain soda water and rose essence brand is bush, both is easily available at Nilgiris.
    • Use good quality essence as its the main ingredient which gives flavor to this drink.

    Serving and Storage

Serve and consume it fresh. Paneer Soda is best tasted when served fresh and chilled.

This is something that we keep having when we travel to Kerala during the summer days!!! so refreshing… by the way, isn't it called "Panineer Soda"? Because Panineer is rosewater in Malayalam… 🙂

      Hi Sharmi,

i think it should be panineer (rose water) soda and not paneer soda. Anyways, great recipe and tempting clicks.

I'm really curious to know what pot you were boiling your sugar syrup in. It looks like freeze-proof break-proof glass – if it is doesn't break on fire, that's great! Can you tell me what you use there?
