    About Green Tea

Green tea is a type of tea that is made from Camellia sinensis leaves and buds. Green Tea & Regular Tea comes from the same tea plant, however the method to make differentiates this tea from the regular tea. This tea is made by steaming, pan frying and drying the tea leaves and does not undergo oxidation process like regular tea.

Green Tea is a refreshing brew of tea powder & water that could be made instantly by boiling water in kettle / stove top & dipping the tea bag or adding the powder to boiling water. This tea is any time drink suitable for all ages & pregnant mothers too.

We usually start our day with a milk coffee and enjoy green tea for mid mornign breaks or evenings. Coffee is always my go to when it comes to starting the day as I am very much a coffee person.

Enjoy a cup of green tea for a refreshing and rejuvenating drink. You can have it with sweetener or without sweetener as per your preference. This is one of the excellent summer drinks.

You can add many flavors to your green tea like infusing tulsi leaves, mint leaves, country borage etc.

    Green Tea 2 ways

I have shared 2 methods of making green tea here.

    • Regular version – This is the boiling method – Boil water then add green tea power and seep in for few minutes then strain and serve.
    • Instant version – This is instant version made by just dipping tea bags in hot water. This is best during travel.

    Benefits of Green Tea

Green Tea – Tea bag & Powder Versions

Preparing Green Tea is an easy & quick task – I have posted the methods of brewing both by using tea bag & powder.  We can add sugar, jaggery or honey as sweetener per our liking for both the methods. Straining would not be needed if we are using tea bags , however the tea bags are costlier compared to the powder depending on the brand we choose.

    Expert Tips

    • If you put the tea powder in boiling water as we do for normal tea, then it would become bitter. So add the tea powder once the water boils and switch off.
    • Use metal fine holed strainer if you are using tea powder.
    • Green tea can be enjoyed with the following flavors.
    • Spices such as ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, pepper, cloves can be used separately or in combo for a flavorful, spiced tea
    • Herbs such as tulsi (holy basil), ajwain (omam), hibiscus, mint are the commonly used flavoring herbs for making tea.

    Serving and Storage Suggestions

Enjoy this tea hot in the morning, evening and after meals trendy in a transparent cup & saucer. This tea about 200 ml can be taken anytime of the day for a maximum of 6-8 times a day.
