Gobi Popcorn is a party snack sure to be a favorite among kids. I have heard about KFC popcorn chicken but tasted only once during my early days of blogging. But I had in mind to try it using cauliflower and finally I did. It was so crunchy and tasty my kids loved it. It is a very easy snack also freezes well.

Generally maida and cornflour is used for the flour mix but I replaced it with wheat for a more healthier option. I wouldn’t say this gives the exact taste and texture with maida but it does taste good, yes my kids approved!

    Gobi popcorn is

    • crunchy
    • addictive and
    • juicy

    About Gobi Popcorn Recipe

To begin with first cut gobi into small popcorn sized florets. Clean it by soaking in warm water and rock salt first. Then partially cook it by adding boiled water with turmeric powder and salt. Drain and transfer to a mixing bowl. Add all the spice powder to it and marinade for 30 mins minimum. Meanwhile prepare the flour coating with wheat flour, cornflour and other spices. Now coat each gobi floret in the flour mix then add it to icewater then again coat it with flour mix. The double coating gives it a nice crunchy taste after frying. Finally heat oil, add the florets and deep fry until golden brown. Serve hot!

    Variations

    • I have used spices like onion, garlic powder, mixed herbs etc. You can use our indian spice powders like coriander powder and garama masala powder.
    • REplace wheat flour with maida for a perfect kfc style popcorn.
    • You can try this same recipe paneer, chicken, potato etc.
