Ingredients

  • 2 cups rolled oats
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 cup milk You can substitute with coconut milk too
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla essence

Instructions

  • Preheat oven at 180 deg C. To a mixer jar - add 1 and ½ cups rolled oats.
  • Add ½ cup brown sugar.
  • Add 1 cup milk(boiled, cooled).
  • Add 1 tablespoon butter.
  • Add 1 teaspoon vanilla essence.
  • Add ½ cup water and Blend it for few seconds until it comes together. It should be coarse not too smooth.
  • Transfer it to a mixing bowl.
  • Add ½ cup rolled oats.
  • Mix well. The mixture should be slightly thick but spreadable. If its too thick add little more water.
  • Grease a 4X4 inches baking tray with butter.
  • Transfer the mixture to the tray.
  • Bake in preheated oven at 180 deg C for 40-45 mins or until the top turns golden.
  • Remove it from the baking tray and cool down completely.
  • Cut into squares and enjoy!
  • Serve warm with milk.

Notes

I used rolled oats which is preferred for this recipe. However you can use quick cooking oats too. But the baking time may vary so keep an eye after 20 minutes.
If using quick cooking oats just pulse it in mixer do not grind.
You can use regular white sugar or brown according to your choice.
Add chopped nuts or chocolate chips as topping or in the batter for a crunch.
I have used vanilla essence you can use any flavoring of your choice.
Check after 35 mins and bake accordingly, the timing may vary.
You can also replace sugar with honey for a healthier alternate.
