Kara Murkku is a easy spciy kara murukku using just rice flour or idiyappam flour. I wanted to try a easy murukku which can be done quickly so tried this and we all loved the texture.The murukkus got empty the same day I made it so that justifies the taste.

My murukku does not give continuous lines and breaks.Why?
- If butter is more, it might break and will not give continous lines.
- If the dough is dry and stiff, it might break while pressing.
Squeezing is difficult.Why?
- If the dough is stiff and tight then squeezing will be difficult.
- You can sprinkle little water , mix it and then try again.
What rice flour to use?
- Use flour used for making idiyappam.
- You can make the flour at home else buy readymade packets.

Kara Murukku
Ingredients
- 1 cup rice flour
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 tablespoon red chilli powder
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- a pinch hing
- water as needed
- salt to taste
- oil to deep fry
Instructions
- To a mixing bowl - add all the ingredients listed except oil and water. Mix this well first. Then add water little by little.
- Make a soft non sticky dough. Make cylindrical logs and keep it ready. Fix the flower plate into the press.
- Grease the inside with oil. Fill it with dough. Press to check and see.
- Press in 2-3 ladles and make it ready. Heat oil in a kadai - Add 4-5 murukkus to the preheated oil. Cook for a min, then clip over.
- Flip over and cook until golden brown on both sides. Fry until golden brown on both the sides.
- Store Kara Murukku in dry airtight container.
Notes
- Make a slightly loose nonsticky dough.Should not be too tight else it will start to crumble, you will not get continuous threads.
- I used flower press,you can use any of your prefered shape.
