Nendran Chips Recipe (Nendran Banana Chips) | Onam Recipes

Nendran Banana Chips RecipeI have not seen many kids who are so specific in snacks too and the lil one is in the list. She is not fond of biscuits, cakes, sweets etc, she asks for cream biscuits licks the cream clean and reserves the biscuits for her mother ;) Though we dont make savoury snacks often at home, she likes ompodi and nendran chips very much. Whenever we visit perimmas house, she packs us nendrangai and we mostly end up making this chips for her sake.

Nendran Banana Chips Recipe - Ingredients

  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Cooking / Coconut Oil - to deep fry
  • Salt - to taste

Nendran Banana Chips RecipeMethod:
1.Slit the banana skin and peel them off. Slice very thin and collect them in a bowl.

My Notes:
  • There is another way to do this : Just add turmeric powder, salt in water and keep aside. Heat oil, add the sliced banana pieces and sprinkle the water directly in the oil - But to me this is not convenient as it splashes and emits a huge noise so I follow the above said method.
  • If you are comfortable you can even slice it directly in oil as they do it in shops - but be very careful while doing this.

  5. Yikes, the water from banana splashing the oil all over would be disastrous! I prefer your method of drying the chips first.
