Mayonnaise Sandwich is a simple sandwich recipe that comes handy with minimal ingredients. This recipe is easy to make and a preferable breakfast item and goes well for school lunch boxes. Since the ingredients are minimal, assembling this sandwich is easy and spill-free. You can add this to your evening snack menu and can be served as party snacks for children.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices bread
  • 1/4 cup cabbage
  • 1/4 cup carrot
  • 1/4 cup capsicum
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1 heaped teaspoon tomato sauce
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  • Grate cabbage and carrot, chop capsicum into small cubes and get them ready. Transfer them to a mixing bowl and mix well.
  • Add all the spice powders along with salt, tomato sauce and lemon juice.
  • Whisk mayo well until its creamy, then measure 1/2 cup and add it to the vegetables. Mix well. Check and adjust salt.
  • Take a bread slice, spread the mayo veggie mixture generously, close with another slice of bread. Cut into diagonals and serve.
  • If you want you can toast the bread.
  • Serve Mayonnaise Sandwich immediately!

Notes

  • Finely chop the veggies – Cut the veggies fine so they can blend well with the mayo and easy to spread them on the bread.
  • Toast the bread – If you want crisp sandwich, slightly toast the bread before assembling the sandwich. This doesn’t make the sandwich soggy.
  • Add in proteins –You can add crumbled paneer, scrabbled egg, or even leftover chicken pieces to the sandwich mixture to give a protein kick.
  • Don’t overspread – Don’t pack the bread with stuffing. It will be difficult to eat and an additional mess to clean.
  • Flavored Mayo – You can skip the regular mayo, and go with flavored mayo like tandoori, mint, or peri-peri for an extra burst of flavors.
  • Add cheese – Another ingredient that can add flavors to the sandwich. You can use any kind of cheese available in your pantry. Check-in on the salt if you are using processed cheese.
