    Banana stem is known for its health benefits so adding it to buttermilk is a great way to include the vegetable this summer.There is no major taste difference between the regular buttermilk and this banana stem buttermilk so even kids who are not fond of this vegetable will also have it.Do try this and enjoy!

    Vazhaithandu Mor | Banana Stem Buttermilk

    Vazhaithandu mor is a refreshing buttermilk made with banana stem very healthy and tasty too. Let us learn to make Vazhaithandu mor recipe with step by step pictures and video.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup thick curd
    • 1.5 cups water add more if you prefer
    • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves
    • salt to taste

    To grind together:

    • 1 cup banana stem
    • 1 no green chilli
    • 1/2 inch ginger piece
    • 1/4 teaspoon jeera

    Instructions

    • To a mixing bowl add curd and water. Add salt to taste.
    • Churn well until frothy. Remove the thick part of banana stem and chop it roughly into cubes.
    • Keep it immersed in water mixed with a spoon of curd to avoid blackening for 15 mins. Then rinse well and add it to mixer jar along with jeera, green chilli and ginger. Grind it a paste without adding water.
    • Transfer it to a strainer and extract juice well into the buttermilk. Discard it. Add coriander leaves and mix well. Churn until frothy and serve chilled.

    • If you want you can add coriander leaves too while grinding and strain it.
    • You can even make a simple tadka with oil,mustard,hing and add it to buttermilk.

    How to make Vazhaithandu mor recipe
