This is mostly made during summer season when the weather is hot. It tastes rich and mildly sweet with tiny soft crunchy bits from the biscuits inside. What makes this different is the texture, you get smooth creamy milk base along with soaked oreo pieces in every bite. It almost feels like having chocolate biscuit and ice cream together in one stick.

    About Oreo Popsicles

Oreo Popsicles is a simple no cook dessert that uses very basic ingredients which is easily available in most kitchen. Milk forms the main base and crushed oreo biscuits are mixed in for the chocolate flavor and slight crunch. After freezing, it becomes firm yet creamy and holds shape nicely when taken out from mould.

This is not a traditional Indian recipe but it has become very common in many homes, especially when kids are around during holiday time. The texture is creamy because of using full cream milk and the biscuit cream inside. The flavor is mostly chocolaty with a mild touch of vanilla which gives a pleasant smell while eating it.

You can try different variations according to your taste and the ingredients what you have at home. Adding little fresh cream will make it more rich and smooth in texture and also more filling. If you want more chocolate flavour, you can add few more biscuits. It does not require standing near stove which makes it very convenient for me.

I usually prepare this on weekends when everyone is relaxing at home and asking for something sweet in evening time. I just mix and freeze, and later it becomes a nice surprise treat for family.

    Oreo Popsicles Ingredients

    • Milk - I have used to make the base, it gives creamy taste and smooth texture. You can also use full cream milk for rich taste.
    • Oreo Biscuits - I have crushed the biscuits roughly and added into mould. It gives chocolate flavor and soft crunchy bites inside. You can use any chocolate cream biscuit if oreo is not available.
    • Sugar - I have used for sweetness. Don't add too much sugar, it can make the popsicle too sweeter.
    • Vanilla Extract - I just added for flavor only. It gives mild sweet aroma. You can use any essence or even skip it.

    Expert Tips

    • Milk - I chill the milk before mixing. It helps in setting faster and gives better texture after freezing.
    • Do Not Powder - I have crushed the biscuits roughly and not powdered fully. Small bits give nice bite inside the popsicle.
    • Filling - You can fill only till the rim and not overflow. If overfilled it may spill while closing lid.
    • Freezing Time - I usually freeze for minimum eight hours or overnight. If not frozen fully it may break while pulling out.
    • Rinsing - I rinse the mould under running tap water, and pull the popsicle out gently.

    Serving and Storage

Serve these directly from freezer for best taste as a dessert after lunch or as evening snack for kids. Store leftover popsicles in freezer only and keep covered properly. It stays good for few days without any problem.
