Karuvadu Thokku is a flavourful, spiced dish made by simmering fish with onion, tomato & spices to a pickle consistency. Karuvadu Thokku is relished with rice meal and tiffin like idli, dosa, utappam & kal dosa. Karuvadu Thokku is healthy & boosts lactation. I have made Karuvadu Thokku using Nei Meen and the procedure is the same for all the types of fishes.
    Karuvadu Thokku Recipe
I love Karuvadu amma makes, but I am very specific to the variety of dry fish(karuvadu).I have tasted just nethili and neimeen karuvadu and I love both. This time on our trip to Karaikudi amma bought this Neimeen karuvadu as its the best boosting medicine for breast milk.I love karuvadu thokku amma makes, so yesterday amma cleaned the dryfish and handed over to me and I cooked it for the first time..yayyy not bad came out pretty good yes amma said so :)Amma usually makes this karuvadu thokku with rice and sambar which is the best combination.the leftover thokku pairs up well with neeragaram.

    Notes

    • The consistency is purely your choice, you can make it gravy kind too.
    • I used country tomatoes which is juicy.
    • Adding small onions gives great flavour, so I recommend adding small onions.
    • Rinse the dry fish well so remove the extra salt.
    • No need to add salt as dry fish itself has more salt in it.
    • Dry fish is the best lactating medicine.
