Homemade lemon squash recipe with just 3 main ingredients easy to make.Easy lemon squash recipe with step by step instructions and video.

We have started having showers though not daily and am loving the climate. Hope this continues for the coming days as well. My ammama used to make this during summers and I so so love this.Last week got the recipe from amma and made this lemonade syrup – Its quick, easy and the best thirst quencher during summers.

Homemade lemon squash recipe with just 3 main ingredients easy diy recipe

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder optional

Instructions

  • Use fresh lemons.Squeeze lemon to take the juice, discard the seeds.Measure and collect the juice in a bowl.To a sauce pan add sugar.
  • Then add water and stir continuously till sugar dissolves and it will start bubbling , allow it to boil till a half string consistency is reached.
  • When its sticky add cardamom powder.Keep checking and be careful while touching the syrup.May be wet your hands and try.Check for half string consistency.
  • Once half string consistency is reached ,Switch off and cool down completely.Add the syrup to a strainer, then add lemon juice to it.Don't add lemon juice when the sugar syrup is hot, cool completely and then add.
  • Give a quick stir to the strained syrup.Store in a clean dry jar, preferable glass.Keeps well in room temperature itself for 3 days after that refrigerate and use it.
  • Serving Suggestions:
  • Take 1 -2 tbsp syrup in a glass, add 1 cup water to it mix well.
  • Serve with icecubes and fresh lemon wedges.
  • If you prefer salty then add a pinch of salt.

Notes

  • Don't squeeze lemon very hard and take the juice as it will give a bitter taste.
  • This keeps well for even a month when refrigerated.No need to freeze it.
  • Keeps well in room temperature for 3-5 days after that better to refrigerate.

    Yum,my favorite drink for summer!We add dry ginger and cardamom to the sugar syrup and then strain it before adding the lemon juice,gives a nice punch to the lemonade:)

      The syrup can be stored upto a month in refrigeration

    Great recipe! The sugar and lime juice definitely act as natural preservatives but shouldn't I add just a little citric acid, just in case?
