Ever since I started to bake, I was waiting to bake these choco chips cookies. Every single time I buy a pack of chocochips for this reason, store it in the chiller and totally forget about it….And when I remember about it, I see only the empty pack(or sometimes a tbsp left) and the culprits were my mother and mittu 🙂 Yes this has happened for more than a year and all my efforts of hiding it in different places were all in vain as somehow they find it out and before I realise the chocochips goes empty….Grrrr! Finally this time, I got the choco chips only a day before I baked these cookies so it was saved 🙂 I took the recipe from my baking class book and I was very much satisfied with the results. This recipe is quite simple and easy to put it together. You can use this recipe for a basic vanilla cookie too.
Eggless Choco Chip Cookies Recipe – Ingredients
Preparation Time : 15 mins | Cooking Time : 30 mins | Makes : 15 cookies
Recipe Category: Cookies | Recipe Cuisine: World
Recipe Category: Cookies | Recipe Cuisine: World
Maida (All Purpose Flour) – 1 cup
Icing Sugar – 1/3 cup
Butter – 1/3 cup (at room temperature)
Choco Chips – 1/3 cup minus 1 tbsp
Vanilla Essence – 3/4 tsp
Baking Soda – 1/4 tsp
Baking powder – 1/4 tsp
Milk – 1 tbsp
Method:
- Cream sugar and butter until creamy. Add vanilla essence and whisk it well.
- Sieve maida , baking powder, soda well until evenly mixed. Add it to butter sugar mixture.
- Bring it together to form a soft dough(Add milk only if its too dry and doesnt come together). Add in the choco chips finally and give a quick stir. Now the cookies dough is ready.
- Preheat oven to 180 deg C for 10mins. Meanwhile roll them into medium sized balls and flatten it with your palms – if you want more thinner cookies flatten them thin. I wanted a bit thicker so made it like this. Bake the cookies for 20-25mins. If its thinner keep an eye at 15mins itself. Mine took a little longer and got baked in 25mins.
Cool them on wirerack completely then store them in airtight container.
My Notes:
- Keep an eye after 15 mins especially when you are making your cookies more thinner. As the timing varies from oven to oven, so switch it off once the cookies turn golden brown.
- The cookies dont spread much so you need not worry about keeping them close.
- The number of cookies depends on the size of cookies.
- Do not overbake, the cookies will become harder.
- Dont skip butter as its the main ingredients which makes this chat tastier.

@Sharmi – first of all kudos for all the great work..this is an awesome site especially for veg people 🙂 for couple of your recipes, you have used butter. Just want to check if we can use desi ghee(melted) instea of butter? or it should be butter only?
Thanks a lot! Reg ur query….no no use only butter dont replace it with ghee
always used to wonder how someone can make cookies at home….and no wonder, I did it today..Thanks a lot "Sharmi"..you are awesome 🙂
Hi Sharmi
Cookies turned out awesome…everyone loved it 🙂
Thanks for sharing.
I have a microwave oven with me.
It has convection, grill, Micro and Combination options.
Should I do this is in convection or Grill mode?
Usually baking is done in convection mode I guess….not really sure as I have not used a microwave oven
Hi ,
M completely new to microwave and used your cookie recipe .
Could you guide me which utencil to use while baking the cookie ?
or Can i keep it directly to the rotating tray with microwave.
@Nice : I am not used to microwave baking…My otg came with a cookie tray which I use for baking cookies. Please check your manual , sorry couldnt help u in this regard.
Awesome! I made them in my microwave last night. And they came out so well that I am going to make more today and store them. Thanks Sharmilee. I am going to keep trying out more recipes from your blog this weekend.
I placed the cookies directly on the high rack that came with my microwave. Otherwise, you can also use glass bowls with flat surface.
@anandi For how many minutes did you microwave them for? And did you baked the whole batch?!
hii …i love yu recipes…bt whenevr i make cookies…they alwayzz start buring from below…they start leaving oil also nd then they start burning from below…plzz help me out
Use a butter paper while baking cookies…Also you can try to change the racks in your oven….this might help!
Hi Sharmi,
I tried this one yday.It was not as tasty as the store/bakey bought ones .Though butter is there it is kind of flavour less:( all the recipes so far from your blog has turned out yummy..except for this one ..
the cookie did look like official chocolate chip cookies;) ..but did not taste anything close to an average choco chip cookie..
regards,
Priya
Sorry to hear that Priya…But this recipe is flawless as its from my baking class book and this recipe has been tried and approved by many….Dont know where it went wrong for u….Good luck next time!
I tried your recipe, but the dough i made just dripped down from the wire tray as soon as I placed it in the oven. Any kind of help would be appreciated.
I really cant get you….do you mean the flattened dough dripped out of the wirerack? You should bake the cookies and only then use wirerack only for cooling….for baking use the cookie tray that comes along with your oven…Hope this helps!
Hey hi..can u please tell can i use only baking powder..if yes then how much..please reply..thanks in advance.
Yes you can try that and see…not really sure of the outcome
Hi Sharmi… these cookies look sooooo yummy. Can't wait to make them myself! But I have a few questions… After preheating the oven, at what temperature should I bake the cookies? I have a Morphy Richards OTG, and whenever I try to bake cookies they turn out black at the bottom and undone on top. So, should I place the baking tray on the middle rack or the top rack? Thanks in advance.
Bake it at the same preheated temperature…..Yes I usually use butter papper on the tray and place it in the middle rack
Hi…thanks for the wonderful choco chip cookie recipe. My family loves them..and they are so easy !! I need to buy a baking tray for cookies. can you suggest which is better for an OTG…. aluminium, silicone, or non stick? or any one you feel is better. Thanks..waiting for your reply
I am using the tray(the black one you see in the pics) one which came with my oven….I have used only steel and aluminium trays both works good…not sure of the silicon and nonstick ones….
Hi Rather then using icing sugar can we use powdered sugar , which we normally use for making muffins ….Today i tried making these cookies….but it doesn't come out that well 🙁
Oh I am really not sure about the replacement but I used store icing sugar only….
Hey, in the ingredients u have given baking powder + soda. Where did u use the baking powder in the recipe? Can we use powdered sugar instead of icing sugar?
Baking powder should be added along with soda itself…..I am really not sure if powdered sugar will work as a replacement….give it a try and see!
Hi we need salted or unsalted butter.
It is unsalted butter…
Hi sharmi, could u guide me to any online store where I can find the chocolate chips. Not getting it any store here 🙁
Check at Nilgiris or Nuts and Spices….not aware of the online shops.
i must very easy and quick recipe. I tried. But it took longer time and came out little hard. how to make them softer.
If its overbaked then it will be hard….
Can i use wheat flour instead of maida
Yes you can but the texture and taste will differ
Sharmi, Can i use plain sugar instead of icing sugar for this recipe?
Yes you can
Tried these goodies yesterday.camme out beautifully. Crispy outside soft n fudgy inside. They were vanished in no tym at homme. Keep up the great work. Love ur recipes n clicks.
