Saffron Milk is often recommended to consume during pregnancy. It is actually a myth that having saffron and milk regularly in pregnancy leads to have a fairer baby.

There is no proven fact that complexion of the baby depends on the intake of saffron by the mother.Actually saffron has a lot of health benefits which might be ignored by pregnant women those days, so having said this helps in having fairer babies may have led many pregnant women to consume this saffron milk regularly.Though saffron has a lot of health benefits but it should not be over consumed, not more than 10gms a day as it increases body heat.

Saffron, the king of spices is also known as Kesar or Kumkumapoovu. From a single flower only three strands of saffron are obtained and it involves a lot of human labour which is produced in Kashmir and it is said to be one of the most expensive spices.
