Mushroom Pepper Fry Recipe – Restaurant Style Pepper Mushroom

Mushroom Pepper Fry Recipe

I have tasted mushroom pepper fry in a restaurant  and I wanted to recreate the hotel style pepper mushroom at home too….Last time when I bought mushrooms they were a little big so the flavours were not blended well so this time I took a pack of small button mushrooms and made this spicy mushroom pepper fry yesterday to pair it along with pulao and it turned out finger lickingly good that the curry was almost over soon after I clicked, So I made it again with another cleaned batch of mushrooms to pair it with corn pulao for lunch 🙂 Now I have started liking mushrooms again so its going to be mushroom love atleast for a while now or until I forget this pepper fry 🙂

Before you ask me, let me tell you thats the new steel pan I got from Chennai 🙂

Serve hot with phulka / chapathi.

My Notes:

  • Adding capsicum is purely optional.
  • You can even add fennel powder if you dont like to add whole fennel seeds.
  • This is spicy fry so adjust spice powders if you want to reduce hotness.
  • Adding freshly ground pepper powder gives a great flavour.
  • This pairs well with phulka / white pulaos / or even with plain rice.
  • Mushrooms cook faster so dont overcook. No need to add water just saute in oil.Mushrooms will leave out water and thats enough for it to get cooked.
  • If you want more gravy then add tomato puree after onion is fried.
