    Homemade Instant Cerelac for Babies is a baby food made by cooking poha cereal mix with water, jaggery syrup or salt to form a cerelac porridge. How to make Homemade Instant Cerelac for Babies is posted here with step by step pictures. Ideal for 6-12 months babies.Homemade Cerelac Mix
    This Homemade Instant Cerelac can be started once the baby starts 5 months(Check my notes).This is very handy during travel if you want to feed homemade cerelac for your baby.I am regularly feeding this for gugu but he likes it with salt than with jaggery but trust me with jaggery it tastes soo good that I myself  liked it so much and licked the extras ;).I usually make it as porridge heating and cooking for sometime but during travel I just add it to hot water and mix it.

    Homemade cerelac powder for babies is a baby food base ingredient used for making porridge for babies. Homemade cerelac powder for babies is made by roasting poha & fried gram dal separately and then grinding & mixing it to form a powder. How to make Homemade cerelac powder for babies is posted here with step by step pictures. Ideal for 6-12 months babies.

    This Homemade Instant Cerelac can be started once the baby starts 5 months(Check my notes).This recipe was given by my neighbour who happens to be mittus friends mother.She suggested me to have both the powders separately but I found mixing both gives more flavour and taste too as gugu liked this better.I usually make it as porridge heating and cooking for sometime but during travel I just add it to hot water and mix it.

    But remember mothers feed is the best and its always good to start with other food only after the baby finishes 6 months.This 4-5 months baby food recipes will help those who are not able to breast feed due to personal / medical conditions.Always consult your paediatrician before introducing any new food.

    Homemade Instant Cerelac for Babies

    Homemade instant cerelac for babies is a baby food made by cooking poha cereal mix with water, jaggery syrup or salt to form a cerelac porridge. How to make Homemade Instant Cerelac for Babies is posted here with step by step pictures. Ideal for 6-12 months babies.

    Ingredients

    To make Cerelac powder

    • 2 cups poha
    • 1 cup fried gram dal

    To prepare instant cerelac

    • 1 tablespoon poha cereal mix
    • 1/2 cup water
    • 1/8 teaspoon ghee optional
    • jaggery syrup or salt to taste

    *Note:Please adjust the quantity as per your baby needs.

    Instructions

    To make Cerelac powder

    • Measure and keep the ingredients ready.I used thin poha. Dry roast for few mins until it turns slightly crisp and nice aroma comes.Do not let the color change.
    • Cool for few mins, then grind it to a fine powder,Set aside.In a pan dry roast gram dal till slightly golden,Let it cool then transfer to a mixer jar.
    • Grind it to a fine powder.You can mix both the powders well with a spoon or sieve it once.
    • Sieve it once,discard if any specks are found.Store the powder in an airtight container

    To prepare Instant Cerelac

    • Measure and keep the ingredients ready.Boil water, add cereal mix and whisk it well to avoid lumps.
    • Cook in low flame.It will become thick.Add ghee and keep cooking.
    • Cook till it comes together like a porridge.You can see the consistency here.
    • Add salt (OR) jaggery syrup.Mix well cook for few mins then switch off.
    • For no cook version : Add hot water to the serving bowl, add cereal mix powder mix well with spoon.Add salt/jaggery syrup mix it and feed.
    • Serve Homemade Cerelac warm immediately.

    Notes

    • Roasting is very important so roast in low heat without changing the color.
    • I have used 1(poha):1/2(gram dal) but you can have even 1:1/4.
    • Grind it as fine as possible and then sieve it.
    • If you want to feed this porridge for babies under 5months then I suggest to cook for few mins and then feed.
    • For instant version : Add hot water, it should nicely hot and not warm.Keep mixing to avoid lumps.
    • Feed instantly.
    • If you want to feed this porridge for babies under 5 months then I suggest to cook for few mins and then feed.
    • You can add 1/8 teaspoon ghee while feeding too.For babies below 6 months add ghee cook and feed.For babies over 6 months you can add ghee directly to the cooked porridge and feed.
    • It gets thick with time so switch off accordingly.
