Ingredients

  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 small pinch turmeric powder
  • 2 tablespoon curd
  • ½ teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon kasoori methi
  • ½ teaspoon chat masala powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin seeds
  • a tiny pinch sugar
  • salt to taste
  • water as required
  • 2 teaspoon oil / ghee for the dough + to toast

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients except water and oil in a bowl, mix well then add water little by little to gather together. Once it forms a mass, add the oil and knead for 5 minutes to form a soft pliable dough. Rest the dough for at least 30 minutes.
  • Divide them into equal lemon sized balls and slightly flatten them. Dust flour and roll them into thin chapatis.
  • Heat a dosa pan, add the chapathi, drizzle oil and cook on both sides until golden brown spots appear here and there. Toast it with oil / ghee.

Notes

  • You can use roasted cumin seeds powder instead of cumin seeds.
  • Reg the spice measures, you can experiment them according to your taste.
  • I added kashmiri chili powder so it gave a good orangeish red color to the chapathi
  • The chapati is very soft and flavorful that you don't even need any side dish for it.
