Aloo Chana Chaat

Aloo Chana Chat is a delightful, tasty mild chat made by mixing chana, roughly smashed potatoes, masala powders, chutney, onion and then garnished with coriander leaves and sev. Aloo Chana is a healthy filler when craving for chat at home. How to make Aloo Chana Chat is explained in this recipe with step by step pictures.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup chana
  • 1/4 cup potatoes
  • 1/4 teaspoon chat masala / garam masala powder
  • a pinch chilli powder
  • 1 tablespoon green chutney
  • 1 tablespoon dates chutney
  • 1 big onion small sized & finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coriander leaves finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoon sev optional
  • salt as required
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

Instructions

  • Soak channa overnight for atleast 6-8 hours.
  • Pressure cook channa until soft, drain water and keep aside.
  • Pressure cook potatoes for 3-4 whistles until soft.
  • Peel off the skin and mash it roughly, keep aside.
  • Now in a bowl add channa and boiled potatoes, combine it with chat masala powder, lemon juice, chilli powder, salt, green chutney, dates chutney and mix well.
  • Finally add onions and garnish with coriander leaves and sev on top. Enjoy Aloo Chana Chaat!

Notes

  • You can also add raw chopped tomatoes.
  • The recipe is totally flexible to our preference so do experiment and enjoy.
  • You can alternatively use black channa too.
  • This can be served as salad too skipping the chutneys alone
