Baked Mac and Cheese Pasta

Baked Mac and Cheese Recipe is a cheesy, gooey delicious yummy pasta made by baking Macaroni or pasta with milk and cheese.   • 1/2 cup macaroni I used shell type
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2.5 tbsp maida / all purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup chedar cheese
  • 1 tbsp cheese spread
  • 1 tsp butter
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 tsp chilli flakes
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • salt to taste


Stovetop version

  • Boil water and add pasta cook until soft yet crunchy to bite. Drain water and set aside.
  • In a bowl add maida,pepper and chilli flakes and mix well – set aside.
  • Heat butter in a pan, add maida mixture and roast for a minute.
  • Then add milk little by little and whisk it so that no lumps are formed.
  • Keep stirring in low flame(use a whisk for this) to avoid lumps, in few minutes it will form a slightly thick creamy smooth sauce.
  • At this stage add cheese spread, cheddar cheese and give a quick stir.
  • Once cheese is melted add the cooked pasta, mix once and switch it off immediately.For stove top method stop at this stage.
  • Serve with toasted breadcrumbs(toast breadcrumbs in 1/2 tsp butter till golden brown) on top and serve hot.

Baked Version

  • Preheat oven at 176 deg C for 10mins.
  • Meanwhile transfer the pasta mixture to a oven safe bowl(I used my ramekins) sprinkle little chilli flakes and make it ready.
  • Once oven is preheated bake it at same temperature for 15mins until the top turns golden brown.


  • As I have mentioned for stove top method, you can toast the breadcrumbs in little butter and then add as topping. I skipped that, I just added it as such.
  • If you want a more saucy version, then just bake till the breadcrumbs turn golden brown say for just 5-7mins.
  • I used shell type macroni , you can use other shapes of macroni too.
  • I used kisan cheese spread which was mild flavoured and it was apt for this mac and cheese.
  • I used my ramekins for baking as it is easy for individual servings, but you can use any big sized microwave safe bowl. Baking pasta for more than 20 minutes will make the pasta dry so bake it accordingly
