Ingredients

Instant Version

  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 teaspoon instant coffee powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar optional

Filter Method

  • 2 heaped teaspoon filter coffee powder / coffee grounds
  • 1/2 cup + 3/4 cup water

Instructions

Instant Version Step by Step

  • To begin with first add water.
  • Boil it well.
  • After that to a serving cup add instant coffee powder and sugar.
  • Add little water first.
  • Mix it well.
  • Add remaining hot water to it.
  • Mix well and serve hot!
  • Your black coffee is ready.
  • Instant black coffee ready. Serve hot!

Filter Coffee Method

  • First fix the upper compartment to the lower compartment like this.
  • Add 2 teaspoon freshly ground coffee powder or filter coffee powder you get in stores.
  • Place top chamber on it. Press it well.
  • Add 1/2 cup hot water to it. If you thick decoction then 1/2 cup will be perfect. You can 3/4 cup to get a slightly runny decoction.
  • After adding water close and keep it undisturbed for 20 minutes at least for the decoction to drip down fully.
  • It takes time as it slowly drips because of the finest holes.
  • Add 1/4 cup decoction to a serving glass.
  • Add 3/4 cup hot water to it.
  • Mix it well. Add sugar if needed. Black coffee is ready!
  • Black coffee is ready. Serve hot!

Notes

  • Use good quality coffee powder.
  • Adjust coffee powder according to your preference. If you like strong bitter black coffee then add 1 teaspoon instant coffee powder for 1 cup water.
  • Boil water when it boils well add coffee powder to it. Boil for 2 mins or until its brewed well. Switch off. Strain and add sugar mix well and serve hot!
  • Make decoction the traditional way using the coffee filter like shown here.
