Tortilla Chips Recipe (Fried & Baked)

Tortilla Chips is one of the easy and crunchy snack you can make at home. Crispy, golden tortilla chips are super crispy and flavorful. I have shared 2 methods of making tortilla chips fried and baked. Enjoy it with a dip of your choice either salsa, or guacamole. Follow the step by step instructions and video to make tortilla chips at home.

Ingredients

  • 10 corn tortilla
  • oil to deep fry
  • salt to taste

Instructions

Cutting tortilla

  • Take tortilla stack 2-3.
  • First cut into half.
  • Stack the halves.
  • Cut into triangles like this.
  • Separate them.
  • Repeat to finish all the tortillas.

Fried Tortilla Chips

  • Heat oil in medium flame. Add few cut tortilla into preheated oil. Deep fry in batches.
  • Flip over and fry until golden.
  • Flip over and fry. Fry until golden on both the sides.
  • Drain oil and remove.
  • Repeat to finish and add it a bowl. Add salt, any seasoning if you want. Shake well and serve. Store in an airtight container and enjoy!

Baked Tortilla Chips

  • Preheat oven at 176 DEG C for 10 minutes. Arrange the cut tortilla on a baking tray. Brush it with oil on both the sides.
  • Bake in preheated oven at 176 DEG C for 2-3 minutes or until it turns golden brown.
  • See how crisp it is!
  • Crispy homemade tortilla chips is ready!

Notes

  • Tortilla - Use flour tortilla or corn tortilla. There are many varieties of tortilla available in market whole wheat tortilla, multigrain tortilla, flour tortilla etc.
  • Cutting - Cut each tortilla into triangles. Small or big is purely your choice.
  • Frying - Use flavorless oil for deep frying tortilla chips. Always fry in medium flame to ensure even frying. Do not over crown while frying. Fry in batches.
  • Seasoning - It tastes great by itself but you can season it with salt or other favorite seasonings of your choice. Sprinkle salt soon after cooking. You can use kosher salt or flaky salt or even regular salt.
