Ellu Urundai

Ellu urundai is an easy quick and simple laddu made for any festivals. This ladoo can be made using just 2 ingredients sesame seeds, jaggery and flavoured with cardamom.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup white sesame seeds
  • 1/3 cup jaggery
  • 2 small cardomom

Instructions

  • Take sesame seeds in a pan or kadai.
  • Dry roast it for 2 minutes or so.
  • It will start to pop out. Roast it until golden and nutty aroma comes. Switch off.
  • Allow it to cool.
  • Transfer to mixer jar.
  • First grind this to a coarse mixture.
  • Then add jaggery, cardamom to it.
  • Again grind it until oil releases from sesame seeds.
  • The mixture should be slightly coarse and moist.
  • The mixture should not be crumbly, it should be easy to hold and shape.
  • Transfer to a bowl, mix it well.
  • Shape into laddus. Enjoy Ellu Urundai!

Notes

  • Make sure you first grind sesame coarsely then add jaggery to it for even grinding.
  • I didnt add ghee or oil, the oil leaving from the sesame was just enough to form balls.But if you want you can add 1 or 2 teaspoon of ghee.
  • You can use black or white sesame for making these ladoos.
  • You can add ghee roasted chopped nuts too.
